THE FLANAGAN FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP<br />
Established by Hall of Fame inductee Terry Flanagan ’62 and his wife, Patricia LeRose Flanagan ’64,<br />
the fund recognizes the average student who evidences extraordinary effort in every area of school life.<br />
THE KEVIN F. MAHER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP<br />
Given in memory of their son Kevin who was killed as a high school senior in an automobile<br />
accident, B.K. and Frank Maher established this award which requires at least average academics<br />
and a positive attitude reflected in involvement and service.<br />
THE ARTHUR AND LA VERNE WELSH SCHOLARSHIP<br />
Designated by the Welsh sons and daughters in honor of their parents’ 85th and 75th birthdays,<br />
the scholarship is restricted to a good student whose parent is expending extraordinary effort to<br />
retain the student in a <strong>Catholic</strong> high school.<br />
THE ELIZABETH AND JOHN BITUNJAC MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP<br />
This scholarship was established by alumni parent Jean Fuehrmeyer in memory of her parents<br />
whose fidelity and commitment to <strong>Catholic</strong> education were extraordinary, especially in light of John’s<br />
blindness from World War ii.<br />
THE VINCENT PASCALE ’63 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP<br />
Given in memory of Vince, well-loved MCHS alumnus of the Class of 1963, by his parents Dr. Luke<br />
and Elsie Pascale, this scholarship is restricted to a solid student whose family evidences courage<br />
in the face of illness.<br />
THE LT. COMMANDER PATRICK J. MURPHY ’81 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP<br />
This scholarship is in honor of Lt. Patrick J. Murphy ’81 whose life was taken in the terrorist attack<br />
on The Pentagon on September 11, 2001. Established by classmates of Patrick Murphy who<br />
sought a living tribute, a yearly reminder of lives lived with courage, this ongoing scholarship is<br />
given to a student who evidences service to God, country and family.<br />
THE GEORGE KLUPCHAK FAMILY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP<br />
An ardent fan of every activity in which his children were involved, alumni parent George Klupchak<br />
appreciated both effort and talent. The scholarship was established in George’s name by the<br />
Klupchak family, as well as by friends led by Tom Kubisak ’69.<br />
THE AMADIO (STU) AND JO ANNE BRUNI SCHOLARSHIP<br />
With the sudden and tragic death of Amadio “Stu” Bruni, his family and friends directed memorials<br />
in his name to <strong>Marian</strong> <strong>Catholic</strong>. Stu’s family later funded this endowed scholarship to be given to a<br />
student who lives in Stu’s spirit-with energy, integrity, hard work, and personal poise.<br />
THE ANNE NOVAK ’08 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP<br />
Established by her family in memory and honor of Annie who lost her life in a car accident as<br />
a Sophomore at <strong>Marian</strong> <strong>Catholic</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>. in keeping with Annie novak’s joyous spirit, the<br />
Scholarship recognizes a young student whose faith makes God’s love known to others. The novak<br />
Family has endorsed the direction of other gifts into this special fund.<br />
THE DEAN PEROZZI, JR. ’94 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP<br />
Established by family and friends in memory of Dean whose young life was cut short by a tragic<br />
accident while working, the scholarship honors Dean’s love of music and the arts.<br />
THE NICOLA AND MARIA M. PASCARELLA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP<br />
Given by alumni parent Philip Pascarella in memory of his parents, faith-filled <strong>Catholic</strong> individuals<br />
who valued hard work and integrity, the fund is restricted to a student with a strong work ethic<br />
who lives the <strong>Catholic</strong> faith.<br />
THE GEORGE AND SHIRLEY KLINE SCHOLARSHIP<br />
Shirley and George Kline (Kline’s Department Store of Chicago Heights), local residents for more than<br />
50 years, believed education is the biggest key to success and wished to maintain their commitment<br />
of helping young people to pursue their college prep educational goals. Through the initiative of<br />
Shirley, the Klines established a scholarship to benefit children of noble, working families in Chicago<br />
Heights and locally who want to achieve and give back to their community in return.<br />
THE DIANE FUSHI DEFRIES ’64 SCHOLARSHIP<br />
Given in memory of Diane DeFries ’64 by her friends (led by Mary Ann Balfour Carlstead ’64),<br />
the scholarship is restricted to a student sharing Diane’s love of service and/or a family who has<br />
suffered from cancer.<br />

The COURAGe TO LeAD ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS<br />
This category of scholarships was given further impetus during The Courage to Lead Capital<br />
Campaign. In the spirit of leadership, all scholarships created through and after the Campaign<br />
will carry the TC2L scholarship criteria that the student, once established in his or her own<br />
career and family, commit to “leading” and assisting another family in similar circumstances.<br />
THE KRONER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP<br />
Established by alumni parent Peter A. Kroner, Jr., The Kroner Family Scholarship reflects passion<br />
for increasing a student’s opportunities through completing post-secondary education at the<br />
appropriate college/university and is offered to seniors through essay application.<br />
THE LUCILLE AND ARTHUR FERRARI FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP (2)<br />
Established by the children of Lucille and Arthur Ferrari to honor the memory of parents whose<br />
energy, hard work, and vision created in their family a culture of entrepreneurship, integrity and<br />
responsibility, this scholarship is especially targeted for students trained to work in The Lucille<br />
Ferrari Spartan Shop.<br />
THE JACK GALLAGHER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP<br />
Established in the spirit of an entrepreneurial and loving family, The Jack Gallagher Family Scholarship<br />
is awarded to a student who is distinguished by a strong work ethic, integrity, humor, and initiative.
