Horizon Addis Tyre Surprises Employees with Salary Raise<br />
Board of Directors at the ceremony<br />
Horizon-Addis Tyre Share Company, a<br />
member of <strong>MIDROC</strong> <strong>Ethiopia</strong>, announced<br />
pay raises during a colourful celebration<br />
of Workers’ Partnership Day on June 16,<br />
<strong>2012</strong>, held at the premises of the company.<br />
The celebration, the first since ownership of the<br />
company was transferred from Matador-Addis to<br />
Horizon-Addis in January 2011, was held to introduce<br />
new Board members to the staff and to brief them<br />
about the future investment plan of the shareholders,<br />
mainly Sheikh Mohamed H. Al-Amoudi and his vision<br />
for the development of the country.<br />
The plan includes manufacturing Light Truck Radial<br />
(rim size 15” and 16”), with technical know how and<br />
machinery from the German-based Continental Ag, the<br />
fourth largest tyre manufacturer in the world. Currently,<br />
all these tyres are 100% imported.<br />
The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Ato Jemal<br />
Ahmed, also said that shareholders intended to step up<br />
the production capacity in quantity, quality, increasing<br />
product portfolio and introducing new technology to<br />
the country.<br />
To the delight of the staff, he also announced a minimum<br />
15% salary increase.<br />
Ato Teklu Haile, Designate and Finance Manager of<br />
<strong>MIDROC</strong> <strong>Ethiopia</strong> and member of the Board, Mr. Umesh<br />
Davera, General Manager of the Company, and the<br />
chairman of the Company’s Basic Labour Union, have<br />
also addressed the employees.<br />

Ato Teklu Haile, urged the employees to work harder<br />
for better results and to protect the company from<br />
corruption and theft. Mr. Davera, on his part urged on<br />
more emphasis on prioritizing quality, cost and service<br />
to customers in order to face global competition. The<br />
Labour Union Chairman reminded the employees of<br />
the five-point regulation to which, he said, workers are<br />
committed.<br />
Also on the occasion, Horizon-Addis awarded 34 of<br />
its employees with certificates for their outstanding<br />
performances in 2011.<br />
