Andriana Grams is a 5 th grade student at Gates Mills Elementary.
Andi is recognized by her teachers and staff as a student with excellent work habits, study skills and a
strong work ethic. She is extremely conscientious and completes daily work and homework tasks
regularly. Andi is looked upon as a leader and willingly tackles difficult tasks requested by her teachers.
She is a wonderful friend and classmate. She is kind and caring to everyone she encounters.
Along with academic and social success, Andi has had excellent attendance every year. She is a model
student and considered a joy to teach. Andi has the qualities to be successful throughout her school
years.

3. BOARD MEMBER COMMITTEE REPORTS
George Hughes discussed the merits of HB 136 and its emphasis on expanding the use of
vouchers throughout all of Ohio and not limited to poor performing districts. This could have a
significant negative financial impact on Mayfield Schools.
4. Presentation:
Gates Mills’ Principal, Mary Meyers, presented the ongoing school building effort to connect the school
to the community by using the District’s writing goal. Each grade level selected a specific area of the
community to connect with.

Mr. Hughes moved and Mr. Carlson seconded to approve the Superintendent recommendation of the
following personnel items for the 2011-2012 school year as presented by the Director of Personnel.
These employees are being employed in the categories listed contingent upon subsequent receipt by
the Board of reports from the BCII and the FBI which are consistent with the applicants' answers on the
employment applications.

experience ($51,081). Nicole's placement should be MA, 3 years experience ($52,236).

Kimberly R. Yirga passed away on August 25, 2011. Kimberly Yirga was a Science Teacher at Mayfield
High School for the past 10 years.
Condolences are extended to the family of Mrs. Kimberly Yirga
Carl Roth passed away on September 20, 2011. Carl Roth was a Social Studies Teacher at Mayfield High
School for 30 years until he retired in 1989
Condolences are extended to the family of Mr. Carl Roth.
