Th e Th ree Ships range consisting of Select, 5 year old Premium
Select, Bourbon Cask Finish and the limited-edition 10 year
old single malt, are all crafted by master distiller Andy Watts,
who has been the distillery manager for just over 20 years.
Using grain and malt, the whiskies produced here are
internationally awarded, receiving recognition for their
superior quality and craftsmanship. Th ey have earned many
fi rsts for the South African whisky industry. Th ese distinctions
include the fi rst single malt, the fi rst blend of South African
and Scotch whiskies, a 100% locally blended whisky and, more
recently, the fi rst South African whisky to take the title as the
World’s Best Blended Whisky at the annual Whisky Magazine’s
World Whisky Awards. Th e Th ree Ships 5- year-old impressed
the judges to such an extent that they handed it the overall
award in the Blended Whisky category at the annual selection
of the very best whiskies worldwide.
Th e distillery is named after the 19th century sea captain James
Sedgwick who became one of the pioneers of the South African
liquor industry after settling in Cape Town in 1850. In addition
