<strong>2012</strong>-<strong>13</strong> <strong>TSSAA</strong> <strong>Handbook</strong><br />
school. Coaches must realize that they have more responsibilities than the general public to understand the<br />
purpose of high school athletics and the principles behind the <strong>TSSAA</strong> rules, and they must maintain that level<br />
of understanding and purpose when dealing with the general public and students. Coaches must be paid<br />
entirely from funds approved by either the board of education, governing board of the school,<br />
Director of Schools, or the Principal of the school.<br />

Rules Meetings for Coaches<br />
Section 10. A member of the coaching staff in each sport and cheerleading or the Athletic Director shall attend a<br />
state rules meeting, if held, or complete the online rules meeting (if available), in the sport involved. The penalty<br />
shall be a fine of $50.00 if a member of the coaching staff in each sport and cheerleading or the Athletic Director<br />
does not meet this requirement for two consecutive years.<br />
Contracts<br />
Section 11. Contracts made and entered into by member schools may be cancelled by mutual agreement or by<br />
authority of the Board of Control. All contracts between two schools shall be signed by the principals contracting.<br />
In the event a dispute arises under a written contract between two member schools, and the contracting schools<br />
are unable to resolve that dispute, either school may request a resolution by the Executive Director. The<br />
Executive Director’s determination may be appealed to the Board of Control, whose decision shall be final and<br />
binding. <strong>TSSAA</strong> shall not resolve any disputes under contracts that are not in writing.<br />
