<strong>TSSAA</strong> SPORTS CALENDAR<br />
Section 8. For each sport there shall be a beginning practice date, a date for the first contest, a limit for the number of<br />
regular season contests, rules in regard to tournaments where applicable, rules in regard to off-season practice, and rules in<br />
regard to summer practice.<br />
They are as follows:<br />
Key Points:<br />
- The Summer Dead Period is the week of the 4 th of July and the preceding week – 14 days.<br />
- All sports will observe a 5-week Dead Period throughout the year.<br />
Football<br />
Monday, week of August 1 ............................................................. First Practice Date. Must practice 3 days before preseason<br />
scrimmages. Maximum of 4 preseason scrimmages or 2<br />
preseason scrimmage dates, or 1 date and 2 scrimmages.<br />
Wednesday, last full week in August .............................................. Date of First Contest. Eligibility and Schedule must be filed<br />
online.<br />
Maximum number of regular season contests ............................... 10 Games; schools that do not qualify for playoffs may<br />
schedule an additional game for a total of 11.<br />
End of season until completion<br />
of 3 weeks (21 consecutive days) .................................................. DEAD PERIOD<br />
End of Dead Period until end of school .......................................... Weight training/conditioning/open facilities permitted.<br />
No practice (exception: from January 1 until the end of<br />
school, 10 days of off-season practice and 2 scrimmages in<br />
a 15-day school period permitted).<br />
End of School until Summer Dead Period ...................................... Weight training/conditioning permitted.<br />
No open facilities. No practice.<br />
Week preceding July 4 and week of July 4 .................................... SUMMER DEAD PERIOD<br />
End of Summer Dead Period until Monday, week of August 1 ....... 15 days of practice (no pads) permitted, 10 of which may<br />
involve practice with another school(s).<br />

Golf (Boys and Girls)<br />
Monday, week of July 15 ................................................................ First Practice Date. Must practice 3 days before preseason<br />
