Slydring ® has a tightly controlled thickness to maximize its<br />

load carrying capability and extend the life of the seals.<br />

A precision wall thickness tolerance of .002“ is achieved on<br />

our standard product in this catalog. Our HiMod ® Slydring ®<br />

HM803 and HM852 are available with ultra-tight tolerance<br />

wall thickness of 0.124- 0.125 inches and loose tolerance of<br />

0.122 - 0.125 inches. Wall thicknesses and sizes not<br />

mentioned in this catalog are available. Contact you local<br />

<strong>Trelleborg</strong> <strong>Sealing</strong> <strong>Solutions</strong> sales office for further<br />

Slydring ® also allows foreign particles to be wiped away<br />

rather than being squeezed between the metal<br />

components. The slot ’Z1’ allows fluid to pass across the<br />

ring thus preventing fluid pressure buildup which might<br />

cause extrusion of the guide ring. To ensure the ring<br />

cannot escape out of the groove it is recommended to<br />

observe the following radial gap sizes as maximum:<br />

- .020 for .060 thickness<br />

- .035 for .125 thickness<br />

Important Note:<br />

The above stated limits for pressure and speed are<br />

maximum values individually. Friction heat<br />

generated by the combination of pressure and<br />

speed may cause local heat buildup. Care should<br />

be taken not to apply high values for pressure and<br />

speed at the same time.<br />
