Applause Please!
Give a round of applause to MAC members who are bringing their dreams into fruition
Congratulations to Peter Rowe who is in the
process of publishing his new book, Adventures
in Filmmaking (in photo above). The book
has been completed and will be published in
May. He has been working on it pretty intensely
for the last four months. It has now been vetted
by a group of beta-readers, and is currently
in the fi nal stages of editing with Toronto editor
Marjorie Lamb. It will be released as a trade paperback
by Amazon and as an ebook by Kindle,
Kobo and IBooks so stay tuned!

Peter Rowe ‘s book, Adventures in Filmmaking
Felicitations to MAC member, Pasquale Marco
Veltri who is on the verge of completing his next
short fi lm, Words to Remember. In many ways,
it is a science fi ction fi lm about the potential
near future and how Alzheimer’s can interrupt
the passing down of wisdom from one generation
to the next. The Words to Remember fi lm

Written and directed by Pasquale Marco Veltri,
Words to Remember stars Naimesh Nanavaty,
Virginia O’Hara, Michael Mcleister, Jasmine
Sawant and Candi Zell. Veltri’s fi lm is a continuation
of his overall theatrical theme of trajectory
of refl ection, self-identifi cation and his overall
passion to understand the human condition.
With an original score by composer Vikas Kohli,
the music draws inspiration from the multicultural
aspects of the fi lm and fuses a classical
string quartet with a traditional Indian bowed
instrument known as the Taus.
Kudos to Michael Ciufo who will be travelling
to Fidenza, Italy to perform the lead role of ‘Alfredo
Germont’ in Giuseppe Verdi’s opera, La
Traviata. The opera will be presented as part of
an intense training program and music festival
offered by the University of Arizona in Flagstaff
to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Giuseppe
Verdi’s birth. The rehearsals and shows will take
place in the beautiful Teatro Girolamo Magnani
(also known as The minature La Scala) World-
renown opera director, Nando Schellen leads
an incredibly talented and accomplished faculty
this coming June.
We are proud of Sherry Prenevost, who was
chosen by Ryerson University to be a part of
their research team assessing impoverished
First Nation needs in remote fl y-in Northern
Ontario communities, using photography/art to
enhance research. Chosen by Interim Place to
be a part of their new arts based teaching and
healing project, Her Life Her Canvass, where
she will be using photography from a unique
teaching perspective. Sherry also recently became
a new board member for VAM.
A congrats to Mississauga Arts Council’s very
own Board Director, Vishal Misra who has an
exciting exhibition coming to Agora Gallery,
NYC. The exhibition, The Odyssey of Color is
scheduled to run from May 11, 2013 through
May 31, 2013. The opening reception will be
held on Thursday night, May 16, 2013 from 6-8
p.m.

Orchestra, thrilled to appoint Denis Mastromonaco
as its new music director. Mastromonaco
will take over in June from Music Director of
34 years, John Barnum. Mastromonaco brings
with him over 20 years of experience. He is also
a strong advocate for music within the community.
Congratulations to Keith Garebian for publishing
his new book of haiku (with his own illustrations),
Moon on Wild Grasses, which will be
offi cially launched on Sunday, April 21 at the
Supermarket, the popular, stylish bar/restaurant,
268 Augusta Ave. in the Kensington Market
area. The event runs from 4-6 p.m., and delicious
fi nger foods will be served. This will be a
great opportunity for you to buy an autographed
copy of the new book.
Kudos to David Record for landing an exciting
tour acorss England. He has 32 shows lined up,
3 radio interviews, 2 TV interviews and newspaper
interviews. A couple articles have already
been written on him there. David will be working
with a video production company and promotional
company out there also. He was visiting
radio stations and TV stations to promote his
latest single/video, Submit To Me feat. Alexandra
Soumalias, which can be viewed on the
homepage of his website. He was also selling
his new mixtape, Step Into Destiny, and his new
poetry book, Kill Me With Love, which both can

Big applause to Opera singing sensation, Aria
Tesolin (ariatesolin.com), who released her
long anticipated sophomore album, Ascension
with a bright new pop classical meets alt-pop
sound. The new album features ten new tracks,
written by the artist, including remixes of her top
singles, The Key and Dolce, which topped the
Offi cial European Indie Charts for fi ve consecutive
months in 2012. Since last March, Tesolin’s
new singles have been playing on nearly 800
radio stations in 21 countries.
MAC would like to extend a big applause to
Zohra Zoberi, a writer recognized for multicultural
works. Zohra Zoberi was among the
recipients at the seventh Women of Courage
Awards, which are held annually to highlight
women of achievement. Zoberi was recognized
for her body of written and performance works
that frequently deal with issues of multiculturalism
and inter-faith dialogue. The writer’s broad
range is encapsulated in her latest book, True
Colours, which was released in July and is an
eclectic collection of prose poetry. In its pages,
Zoberi tackles a broad swathe of the human experience,
writing on everything from shopping
for sarees to relationship breakups to the Arab
Spring. In June of this year she also received an
Ambassador of Peace award from the Universal
Peace Federation.
Congrats to Carlo Coppola for releasing his
new video/single that was shot to help bring
awareness and break the stereotypes surrounding
those in our society stricken with addictions
and dependencies. Addictions do not
discriminate, they attack all walks of life. Videos

After his fi rst US mini-tour, Mississauga’s indierock/alternative
hip-hop/dance music innovator
Paul Castro (professionally known as THE
iDENTiTY CRiSiS) is back and back at it! He
has been in studio working on projects for the
likes of the RZA (Wu-Tang Clan) Justin Nozuka,
and members of Theory of a Deadman. Check
out his latest music video, Rock and Roll is My
Woman on his YouTube channel. He also came
out wit a new music video for his single, Save
Me. This is the latest offering from his album,
I Hate the F Word. The video was directed by
fellow Mississauga native Adam Schafer (skeletonmeat.com)
and features scenes shot in the

Congratulations to 18 year old Mississauga
rapper/poet, Wali ‘Flo’ Shah, who just recently
