matter on a level that many students<br />
had not yet experienced. “I hope you<br />
realize how important it is for a civil<br />
society to have people who are willing<br />
to be for things and not just against<br />
<strong>the</strong>m,” said Susan, as she and Nancy<br />
profusely thanked <strong>the</strong> students for<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir passion and dedication to such a<br />
difficult task.<br />
In <strong>the</strong> final portion of <strong>the</strong> event,<br />
teens designed a public service announcement,<br />
which has since been<br />
produced by <strong>Berkeley</strong> Rep’s multimedia<br />
producer, Pauline Luppert. The video<br />
opens in a drab high school where<br />
students march monotonously through<br />
<strong>the</strong> halls, mouths covered in black<br />
tape. When <strong>the</strong> students reach <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
art classroom, <strong>the</strong>y remove <strong>the</strong> tape,<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir world jumps into bright color, and,<br />
with activated voices and bodies, <strong>the</strong>y<br />
dive into various art projects. you can<br />
