Alumni Office Abuzz
miCa’s alumni and Parent relations offiCe has been
working hard to implement regional initiatives focused on
the five largest pockets of MICA alumni: Miami, Northern
California, Southern California, New York City, and
Baltimore/Washington, DC regions. Here are some of their
efforts in doing so:
Regional Facebook Groups:
The New Way to Stay Connected
Five new Facebook pages have been launched to cover popular alumni
regions. In addition to creating online communities for alumni populations to
strengthen connections with one another and remain involved with MICA,
regional programming will include: invitations to local alumni openings,
reunions, and cultural events; information on presidential visits; parent and
student welcome parties; and opportunities for professional networking
such as informal happy hours. Alumni are encouraged to join these Facebook
communities and post updates about exhibitions and news.
MICA Alumni Exhibition in New York City
Wednesday, January 11–Wednesday, February 1
A collaboration of MICA alumni in the New York City region, this showcase
will exhibit the creativity and acknowledge the professional careers of
numerous MICA alumni. The exhibition will take place at Art Connects

ALUMNI
New York (491 Broadway, 5th Floor), the former studio space of the late,
legendary abstract expressionist painter, Bill Dutterer ’65 ’67. Jamie
Johnson, Bill’s wife, runs the studio.
Strategic National Arts Alumni Project
MICA is participating in the Strategic National Arts Alumni Project—a
one-of-a-kind survey that explores the lives of arts alumni nationwide.
When MICA alumni complete the survey, they’ll have access to a site
where they can see how their experience compares to other arts
graduates—where they live and work, what they earn, and how their arts
educations have influenced their lives.
By providing the alumni office with a current email address, alumni
can be sure not to miss their chance to share their experiences and help
shape the future of arts education across the country and at MICA. Contact

The (E)merge Art Fair in Washington, DC
Numerous MICA alumni came together at the Capitol Skyline Hotel from
September 22-25 for the (e)merge art fair, which featured international
galleries and nonprofits, along with artists, curator and panel discussions,
and performances.
New Class of Alumni Council Members
Forty-one council members have been appointed to MICA’s Alumni Council,
each reflecting the diversity of the above regions. These members will serve
three-year terms, which are set to expire in May 2014. A full list of council
