Women’s Club to offer
scholarships
WILBRAHAM - The Wilbraham Women’s Club is
offering at least two $1,000 scholarships and one $500
music scholarship to students who will pursue a degree
at a four-year college or university, and a $500 award to a
student who will attend a two year institution or a technical/vocational
program.
The applicants must be Wilbraham residents and
graduating seniors. The selection factors include: academic
achievement, character, and leadership. The music
scholarship requires that the applicant either pursue
a music major in college or have been active in music
curriculum in high school. The scholarships and award
you’re registered it’s time to dust off
your stick and get it working again.
What better way to do this than in a
preseason clinic.
This year we will be hosting our
first annual Spring Lacrosse Clinic.
I, along with Western New England
University Men’s Lacrosse Coach,
John Klepacki and some
of his Golden Bears, and
others will be conducting
a preseason clinic for
boys grade K-8. Here the
players will be taught the
proper fundamentals of
how to play the game.
All proceeds are to go
back into the fields and
equipment that our K-8
lacrosse teams use.
All program details
can be found on our new
and updated website: wilbraham-ma.gov/rec.
“It was a program we piloted last
year,” coach Cook said. “We give a daylong
workshop for high school and college
students who want to get into a coaching
career. We’ll have info on the levels of
coaching: high school, college, youth.”
Coach Cook initiated the program
“This is a pilot program Deb and I
were asked to put together and it got very
good reviews so we brought it back this
year,” said coach Cook, who completed
his 31st season with WMA in the fall.
“The coaches will be meeting with us in
a seminar style. They’ll get information
about resume writing, connections, networking,
and then they’ll see some of the
convention clinics that are going on that
day. There will be a panel discussion with
people in the field. It’s pretty exciting.”
