President’s Note
Is everyone as tired of
this snow as I am?
Quite a contrast from last
winter. Total snowfall last
year for the entire winter
was just 3.9 inches making it the lowest
on record for Kansas City. Although last
week’s snowfall doesn’t make this winter
the most on record for Kansas City, it is
the 2 nd largest snowfall for the month of
February. A total of 20.5 inches was recorded,
and I don’t know about everyone
else, but I know I had every bit of that
20.5 inches on my driveway. We all look
forward to the warmer temperatures in
March melting these huge piles of snow
along the roadside.
Unfortunately, as a result of the snow
last week, we decided to cancel the February
general meeting on Thurs. evening,
2/21. Hope to see everyone at our next
general meeting Thursday, March 21.
If you did not attend the Super Bowl Party
hosted by Dick Summers, you missed a
good time. There were approximately 30
people there enjoying great food, drink
and lots of fun.

our members. We have already received
one new member as a result of the golf
show, and I’m hoping there will be many
more.
First Friday for February 1 at the Tavern
at Mission Farms was very well attended.
First Friday for March will be 3/1 at Nick &
Jakes at 135 th & Metcalf. Plan to come
out and enjoy a Friday evening with your
fellow golfers.
Don’t miss the Casino Party on March
16 at Debbie Opfer’s house. Get your
checks in the mail to Debbie and come
enjoy a great time. Cost is $15 and
BYOB. Check your emails for details.
Our Spring Fling is planned for Friday,
April 12. Again, watch for emails for the
details regarding this event.
Hope to see everyone at our upcoming
social events and then out on the golf
course as soon as this snow melts.

General Meeting, Feb. 21 st
Well, the repeated snow storms were
just too much and for safety and practical
reasons Rhonda cancelled the general
meeting for February by 2:00 that afternoon.
This is a reminder to always watch
your emails, especially in times of questionable
weather, as the decision to maintain
a meeting will be made as promptly
as possible. Our next general meeting
will be Thurs, Mar. 21st at Birdies at 75th
& Antioch, in Overland Park, KS, with the
Social beginning at 6 PM and the general
meeting begins at 6:30 PM. Come, bring
a guest, socialize with your KCSGA
friends and hear more about our 2013 golf
schedule.

KCSGA Exhibiting at Feb 22-24, 2013 KC Golf Show
Despite extremely heavy snowfall the day before, the Kansas City Golf Show went
on without a hitch February 22-24 th. Our booth received a great deal of traffic for the
2½ days that resulted in registering 25 guests who expressed a great deal of interest
in our organization. Barb Gawlik will be following up with these folks as potential
new members. The Show also produced one new member, Cindy Westervelt
from Lawrence, KS. Please be sure to welcome her in our next get together. Dohn
Kennyhertz would also like to thank Gary Frazier, Anita Mooney, Sandy
Kolderup, George Howell, Karen Baier, Bob Fischer, Fred Hesselroth, Judy
Wolff, Konnee Cook, Mark Slater, Alleyne Johnson, Dick Summers, Sue
Kariker, Mike Harris, Ronda Harness, Darrel Robertson, Joyce Smith, and Barb
Gawlik for their participation in working the KCSGA booth. Everyone did a great job
in making this event a success this year.

Next 1st Friday – March 1 st
Hope everyone is enjoying the varied venues that Luisa is organizing for us, especially
since she has been in Florida! She has had local help to be sure, and with February’s at the
Tavern in Mission Farms. Very nice venue and good happy hour prices. March 1 st we were at
Nick & Jake’s (the majority of the pictures above!). Everyone enjoyed the location, the appetizers
were half-priced and several drink specials were reasonably priced. This may be the
sight of return visit!
April 5 th is the next First Friday and we will be going
back to Gordon Biersch! Watch your e-mails for more
details. Don’t forget Spring Fling is approaching and
the RSVP date is not far off (see additional note below).
If you haven’t already, don’t forget to sign up for the
Casino Party Saturday, March 16 th ! Details have
been sent in several emails, but in short it will be at
Debbie Opfer’s house again in Lee’s Summit, Happy
Hour & ½ starts at 6:30ish. Cost is $15 payable to
Debbie, NOT KCSGA, BYOB and positive RSVP’s

Super Bowl XLVII Party - Sunday, February 3 rd, 4-9pm
Dick Summers again hosted a wonderful Super Bowl party for us. The
event was attended by over 30 people and there was so much delicious food
many wished they hadn’t eaten for a day or two! Voluntary contributions
were made to several Super Bowl pools going and a couple private ones
were being monitored by attendees. The winners were announced at the
end of each quarter and then the overall game winner at the end. The winners
were: 1 st Quarter-Maureen McArdle; 2 nd Quarter-Judy Higgenbothem;
3 rd Quarter-George Howell; 4 th Quarter & Game-Konnee Cook.
