HE MacDonaliLs of Staffa are now in reality the family of Steuart-Seton of Allanton,<br />
in Lanarkshire, created Baronets of Great Britain in 1815.<br />
Reginald MacDonald of Staffa was the fourth son of Colin MacDonald of Boisdale,<br />
son of Alexander, first of Boisdale in South Uist, and grandson of Donald<br />
MacDonald of Benbecula, bj his second marriage with Margaret, daughter of George<br />
MacKenzie of Kildun.<br />
Reginald of Staffa was an Advocate and Sheriff" Dep\ite of Stirlingshire. On his<br />
marriage with Elizabeth Margaret, only daughter and heiress of Sir Henry Steuart<br />
of Allanton and Touch, Bart., in January 1812, he assumed the name of Steuart. In<br />
1835 this lady added to her own name that of Seton, as sole heiress of Touch-Seton.<br />
She at the same time " succeeded to the Offices of Heritable Armour-Bearer to the<br />
Queen, and Squire of the Royal Body," which have been from time immemorial in<br />
the family of Seton of Touch. Her grandson, Sir Alan Seton Steuart, Bart., is the present representative.
