WESTERLEIGH PARISH COUNCIL
NEWSLETTER SPRING 2008
WESTERLEIGH VILLAGE WEIGHT LIMIT
The long awaited
7.5tonne weight
restriction is here.
Over recent years
lorries have been
traveling along
unsuitable urban
and rural roads, as
a result are increasing
noise and
pollution levels
that are lowering
the quality of life
for local residents.
Signs will be
erected at locations
to prevent
HGVs (except
those loading and
unloading) from
traveling through
Westerleigh Village.
Signs will be in
four locations:
• Badminton
Road junction
by
WesterleighBusiness
Park
• Shire Way
junction in
Yate
• B4465
junction of
Shorthill
Road and
Westerleigh
Road
south of
the village
• B4465
junction at
Westerleigh
Road
south of
the village
LOTTERY FUNDS FOR NEWMAN FIELD
Council have been
lucky enough to
secure a Beacon
Grant of £35,000
Lottery Funding
for Play through
South Gloucestershire
Council.
Council want to
encourage natural
play and hope to
create a ‘landscape
for play’. Somewhere
that is
beautiful for everyone
to enjoy, but
is also fun for
children and young
people. We’d like
it to be a place for
families to go,
enjoy this children
playing and even
take a picnic. The
proposal is still in
the design stage
and initial sketch
plans should be
available soon.
