38 Computational Fluid Dynamics / Multiphysics PHYSICA is a program for the analysis of Multiphysics and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) fully integrated into the SOFiSTiK environment. The program is developed by the team of Prof. Marc Cross from the University of Wales Swansea. PHYSICA con solve the following tasks: • Fluid mechanic (Navier-Stokes equations) • RANS family turbulence models (k-�, MMK k-�, k-�) • Free Surfaces for Fluids • Heat Conduction and Convection • Combustion • Melting and Solidifi cation • Elasticity and plasticity of solids
PHYSICA is a general unstructured grid 3D Finite Volume solver, hence coupled easily to the FE solvers of SOFiSTiK. The integration into the SOFiSTiK pre- and postprocessing environment is seamless, automatic volume meshing and powerful WinGRAF plotting can be employed. Online manual and help is available for CADINP input with TEDDY. The fl uid domain boundary conditions can be applied automatically by the module SOFiLOAD for prescribed wind parameters like wind speed profi le and terrain roughness. Evaluated results of the CFD computation like pressure and wall shear stress can be transferred to loads available for structural analysis. 39
