Very nice copy, hardly worn. Gilt weapon of the royal society of London on bottom of spine, their small institution stamp on
title and (very faint) verso of some plates. Later institution stamp of another library on first blank. Published in: Annales Des
Sciences Naturelles (complete volume, only containing one other paper at the back: Grehant & Quinquaud ''Recherches sur
la respiration et sur la fermentation de la levure de grains'' - 60 pp.). Rare.
Bourguignat's papers and books are seldom so profusially illustrated as in this one. Furthermore this paper of his is seldom
offered for sale. Interesting is the fact that the plates in this volume are the same as he issued two years before in his:
Iconographie malacologique des animaux Mollusques du lac Tanganika (35 pls). A work that is now very rare and that he
made especially to aid the French Missionaries to identify the species they encountered in the field. New species were
depicted in that iconography but not described. The new descriptions are to be found in this volume.
