UNDERGROUND COALMINE TOURS The guided mine tour can<br />

only accommodate limited numbers of visitors. We suggest that you visit<br />

the mine on your way to the <strong>Museum</strong>’s canalside village.<br />

CANAL TUNNEL TRIPS 38 Take a trip into the world famous spectacular<br />

Dudley Canal Tunnel and Limestone Mines (additional charge applies).<br />

REFRESHMENTS: The modern Cafe Bar situated in the <strong>Museum</strong> entrance<br />

building serves a selection of drinks and light snacks. (Limited opening times).<br />

The Canalside Cafe situated overlooking the <strong>Museum</strong>’s canal offers a<br />

wide range of food, from <strong>Black</strong> <strong>Country</strong> delicacies, to snacks and hot and<br />

cold meals.<br />

Our world famous fish and chips (cooked traditionally in beef dripping) can<br />

be purchased daily from 12.00 to 3.00 pm from the Fish & Chip Shop<br />

situated at the heart of the <strong>Museum</strong> village.<br />

The Bottle & Glass Inn serves, from 11.00 am to 3.30 pm, a selection of<br />

traditional drinks including <strong>Black</strong> <strong>Country</strong> Real Ale. (12.00 - 3.30pm on Sunday).<br />

Traditional sweets can be purchased from the Sweetshop and a selection<br />

of cakes and bread are available from the Baker’s Shop.<br />

MUSEUM GIFT SHOP: The Gift Shop is situated in the <strong>Museum</strong><br />

entrance building. Here you can purchase disposable cameras,<br />

photographic films, batteries and plastic raincoats, just in case you have<br />

forgotten the essentials. We have a wide selection of gifts and souvenirs<br />

to help you remember your day at the <strong>Museum</strong>. From postcards and books,<br />

sweets and preserves, toys and traditional games to glassware and<br />

jewellery there is something to suit all tastes and pockets.<br />

Other retail outlets on site include: Glass Cutter* 29 and Rock and<br />

Fossil Shop* 7 Period Photographers Studio* 34 limited opening times*<br />

TOILETS: Toilets are situated within the <strong>Museum</strong> entrance building, by the<br />

Canalside Cafe, by the Workers’ Institute and at the Bottle and Glass Inn. Adapted<br />

toilets are available in the <strong>Museum</strong> entrance building and next to the Canalside Cafe.<br />

BABY CHANGING AND FEEDING: Baby changing facilities are available<br />

in the <strong>Museum</strong> entrance building and next to the Canalside Cafe. <strong>Visitor</strong>s<br />

requiring privacy for baby feeding should request access to the First Aid<br />

room in the <strong>Museum</strong> village.<br />

ACCESS: Where original steps make wheelchair access difficult, portable<br />

ramps are available. Ask any member of staff for assistance. Wheelchairs are<br />

available from the <strong>Museum</strong> entrance building - check availability.<br />

FIRST AID: Trained first aiders are always available at the <strong>Museum</strong>.<br />

Seek assistance from any member of staff or go to the admissions desk in<br />

the <strong>Museum</strong> entrance building.<br />

THE MUSEUM IS A<br />

NO SMOKING SITE<br />

In the interest of safety and hygiene, visitors are not<br />

permitted to take food into any of the buildings.<br />

If you encounter any problems during your day at the <strong>Museum</strong><br />

simply contact the nearest member of staff or go to the main<br />

entrance building and we will do our utmost to help.<br />

Please remember that the <strong>Museum</strong> has recreated the conditions of the 19th and early<br />

20th Centuries. Please take care on the paths by the coal mine and elsewhere, where the surfaces<br />

are typical of their time and not as smooth as modern paths, AND SUITABLE STURDY FOOTWEAR<br />

SHOULD BE WORN AT ALL TIMES. Be alert for vehicle movement, especially where the trams and<br />

trolleybuses are operating. Please also observe the requests of the <strong>Museum</strong> staff which are intended<br />

for your comfort, security and safety.<br />
