‘n GRONDTRANSAKSIE met ‘n
sakeman van Modjadjiskloof blyk
een groot bedrogspul te wees.
Luidens ‘n waardeerder, is daar
heelwat amptenare wat pa moet
staan vir tergende vrae rondom die
verdagte transaksie.
Volgens Rene Pohl, DA raadslid
van Modjadjiskloof is vier stukke
grond vir behuisings doeleindes ‘n
ruk gelede aan die munisipaliteit
gebied.
Die plaas, Vrystaat van 81ha van
Michael Toulou, sakeman van die
dorp, wat glo sterk bande met die
ANC het, is volgens verskeie
bronne in 2008 deur die Departement
van Landelike Ontwikkeling
en Grondhervorming teen R14
miljoen vir die Groter Letaba Munisipaliteit
gekoop.
Dit ondanks die departement se
bewering dat daar nie geld is om
boere vir hulle grond te betaal
nie.
Die Departement het glo boere
by herhaling daarvan beskuldig
dat hulle plaaspryse opjaag.
Letaba Herald het Sakkie Mutshinyali,
munisipale bestuurder
van die GLM geskakel om die
transaksie te bevestig.
Mutshinyali het egter gereageer
met: "Don’t drag me into this,
phone Land Affairs", waarna die
foon in die verslaggewer se oor
neergegooi is.
Letaba Herald het die Departement
van landelike ontwikkeling
geskakel. Eddie Mohoebi, woordvoerder
van die departement kon
nie onmiddellike antwoorde verskaf
nie, maar sal teen Vrydag op
vrae kan reageer, omrede hy op
Provinsiale vlak antwoorde moet
kry en hy tans in Mpumalanga is.
Letaba Herald is in besit van
dokumentasie waar die departement
van provinsiale regering en
behuising die aankoop van die
plaas Vrystaat afkeur.
Volgens ‘n amptelike waardeerder
vir die munisipaliteit, wat
verkies om anoniem te bly, is die
plaas in 2008 vir die munisipale
waardasie lys op sowat R500 000
gewaardeer. Toulou het die plaas
in 1999 vir R281 500 gekoop.
Die waardeerder sê hy is nie in
die transaksie geken nie en hy
twyfel of daar ooit behoorlike wardasie
op die plaas gedoen is
alvorens die plaas aangekoop is.
Hy het van die transaksie bewus
geword omdat hy die mark via die
aktekantoor monitor.
Vier stukke grond is ‘n ruk
gelede aan die munisipaliteit gebied
vir behuisings doeleindes.
Volgens Rene Pohl is een daarvan
‘n plaas van 300ha vir R12
miljoen waarvan 100ha geskik is
vir behuising.
Toulou het twee stukke aangebied,
die plaas wat gekoop is en ‘n
stuk van 1ha vir R7 miljoen. Nog
‘n plaas wat reeds onderverdeel
en gesoneer is vir dorps ontwikkeling
is aangebied vir R4,5 miljoen.

Toulou se grond besluit.
Volgens Pohl is dit bergagtige
grond, wat ontwikkeling duur
maak en dit is as landbougrond
g e s o n e e r.

Famous Baobab’s age might be wrong

NEW estimates have been forwarded regarding
the age and longevity of the famous
Sunland Baobab in Mooketsi.
Adrian Patrut, a professor of Inorganic and
Radiochemistry from Romania, visited the tree
a while back to take samples and do studies on
this magnificent old behemoth.
Previous estimates dated the tree at around 6
000 years old. Professor Patrut had, apparently,
intended to announce that it was even older.
This was forestalled by the test results
however, which came back indicating that the
tree was not older but possibly much younger
than previously thought.
Radio Carbon dating, believed to be much
more accurate than the older method of Carbon
dating, places the Sunland Baobab at
approximately 1 100 years old. Still, older than
any of us can imagine.
These studies took place over a period of
three years and cost an estimated 50 000 US
dollars. The dating was done in Massachusetts
at the world’s only Radio-Carbon dating
centre.
Sixty five samples of the tree were tested
during this period - no other tree has ever been
examined in such depth and detail.
Results indicated that the smaller stem (stem
II) of the Baobab is likely much older than it’s
larger counterpart (stem I). It is theorised that
the two stems fused into one living thing
around 450 years ago.
Stem II almost stopped growing 250 years
ago, while stem I is still growing at a remarkable
rate - approximately 50cm in radius
near the bar’s entrance over the past 110
years.
Six major fires were also identified in the
tree’s history, possibly also responsible for the
ambiguity that goes hand in hand with attempting
to date the ancient tree.
Fires are believed to have wracked the tree,
particularly inside it’s noteworthy cavities,
around the years 1550, 1650, 1780, 1905,
1955 and 1990.
These fires, coupled with the cavitation
process, are believed to have erased the oldest
elements of the tree.
Professor Patrut intends to do some further
tests, as it would appear that he is unsatisfied
with the relatively young age returned in the
test results.
If, however, the older parts of the tree have
rotted/ burnt away, then we may never know
just how old this proud matriarch of the
Limpopo Lowveld is.

POLICE in Limpopo are appealing for help in
tracing a missing policeman.
Sergeant Tlou Johannes Mpai, who was
stationed at Mahwelereng Police Station, has
been missing since Monday, May 31.
According to the Provincial Police Spokesperson,
Lieutenant-Colonel Ronel Otto, Sergeant
Mpai left home saying he was going to
work, but never reached his place of work and
has not been seen since. Anyone with information
is requested to contact the investigating
officer, Detective Warrant Officer
Kgasha Mashamaite, on 072 263 6835.

Protect children from child predators
THE COUNTRY is currently in a state of
celebration and prosperity because of the
World Cup, but with the influx of tourists
comes a number of serious problems too -
among them, child abduction.
The following tips were released to prepare
parents and protect children from child predators:
* Do not wait 24 hours before reporting you
child missing.
* Know where your child is at all times and
with whom they are, and always make a
mental note of what your child is wearing.
Teach your children to tell you where they are
going, when they are leaving and whom they
are leaving with. They should also know to
inform you if their plans change.
* Always keep a recent photograph of your
child in your purse/wallet or on your cellphone
in case of an emergency.
* Know the names, addresses and numbers
of all your children’s friends. Be cautious of
every friend they make and make an effort to
know your children’s friends and their parents.
* Be involved in your child’s life. Build a
trusting relationship, but do not overdo it.
Make your house a place where you child
wants to bring his/her friends to. This way you
will have your child right under your nose
most of the time and he/she will feel confident
to share information with you.
* Teach your children their own names and
address, your name and telephone number, as
well as the details of an aunt or uncle in case
they can’t get hold of you.
* Keep your children (especially the younger
ones) close to home and teach all your
children to never, ever walk alone, but always
take a friend with them (the Buddy System) or
someone you trust. Never send your children
Senior Land Bank official
in on charges of fraud
A Senior Land Bank official, who operated in
Tzaneen and surroundings, was recently arrested
on fraud charges totaling millions of
rands.
Theo Behrens and three others were arrested
by the Hawks for allegedly stealing
millions meant for black farm workers in the
area. This arrest has been confirmed by the
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
They stand accused of defrauding the
bank's micro-finance product, Mafisa, an
empowerment scheme that offers low-interest
loans to black workers or entrepreneurs who
want to be farmers.
Mafisa was piloted in Limpopo but halted
after irregular loans of over R18 million were
disbursed.
The suspects appeared in Polokwane Magistrate's
Court on eight counts of fraud, theft
and money laundering, and were released on
bail until July 21 when, according to the NPA,
a trial date will be set.
An arrest warrant has also apparently been
issued for a fifth suspect still at large.
The group is accused of colluding with
farmers to pose as mentors in order to recruit
their workers to supply their ID books for loan
applications; the farmers and fraudsters
would then pocket the money disbursed
against false invoices. The bank would write
off loans to unwittingly indebted workers.
According to NPA spokesman, Mthunzi
Mhaga, "The actions of the accused threaten
the economic stability of the country and
undermine efforts to develop small and up-
to the shop or anywhere else alone.
* Children should never play in the streets
alone. It is very easy for a stranger to stop next
to a child, grab him/her and pull him/her into
their car.
* Teach them never to go places they don’t
know. If they wander away from you in a
shopping centre or mall, teach them to go to a
store assistant for help. They should never try
to look for you themselves or ask a shopper for
help.
* Children should never go to public toilets
alone. They should either be accompanied by
a friend or trusted adult.
* Get ID bracelets or other means of identification
with your cellphone number on it. If
you do not have an ID bracelet or something
similar when you go out to public places,
make sure to write your telephone number on
your child’s arm or somewhere visible. Also
make sure your child’s name and your telephone
number is written on the inside of all
their clothing.
* Take your children to the nearest police
station/hospital/clinic and show them how to
get there. Point out landmarks to prevent them
from getting lost. Teach them to take the same
route to and from places
(school/malls/friends’ houses etc). This way
when your child is missing you can start
looking on the discussed route.
* Teach your children to make loud noises
and scream in order to attract attention when
they are in trouble or being followed - rather
be safe than sorry. Friends holding hands also
make it more difficult for predators to abduct
them.
* Back to basics: Teach them that they
should not trust strangers, get into their car, go
anywhere with them or accept anything from
them. Child predators will try to temp their
coming farmers". He went on to say that they
would "ensure those arrested face the full
force of the law".
It is alleged that, of six projects with loans
totaling R7 million facilitated by Behrens, only
one was deemed by investigators to be above
board.
In one case loans were apparently disbursed
on behalf of workers on Behrens's own farm.
The farm workers were reported as stating that
they had signed documents because they
were told to do so by their employer.
Behrens worked as a sales consultant at both
the Polokwane and Tzaneen branches of Land
Bank. There are also unconfirmed reports that
he is currently an estate agent working for a
local realtor and specialising in farm sales.
Behrens is supposedly a farmer from the
Trichardtsdal area.
It is alleged that he benefited to the tune of
R3.5 million from the scam.

* Get a code word: when your child is
approached by a stranger, the stranger has to
give the code word to confirm that he/she
received permission from you to engage with
them.
* Parents who allow their children to have
MXit or Facebook, get a way to monitor it.
Know who your child is talking to, show you
are interested, familiarise yourself with the
technology, networks and slang, and always
be one step ahead.

Golden Years’ management explains controversy
THE controversy surrounding Golden Years
Elderly Care has Greater Tzaneen divided.
While many are happy with Golden Years’
treatment of the elderly, others only have
negative comments.
These include the alleged disappearance of
donations, Golden Years’ treatment of the
elderly in their care and the quality of the food
served to the elderly.
The Letaba Herald had a closer look at their
books and found nothing out of the ordinary.
They claim that every donation is listed and
invite the public to have a look at their
donation books at any time. The fact that there
are three donation books, one in the office, one
in the kitchen, and one at reception, could offer
some difficulty at keeping track of donations.
Golden Years states however that, beside edible
goods, all donations will still be found on
their premises.
According to Golden Years, donations have
been coming in less since the start of the
recession, making it difficult for them to stay
afloat and leaving them R185 000 in the red at
the end of their financial year in 2009. They
were however able to use their reserve funds of
R115 000 to soften the blow.
The public is also invited to inspect Golden
Years’ financial records.
Some of this financial year’s losses can be
attributed to theft. Two employees were relieved
of their duties for stealing clothes and
food.
Although residents of Golden Years have
complained about some of the personnel,
Daan Roelvert, Chairperson of the Golden
Years committee, guarantees that all complaints
are given attention and handled according
to the labour law. Residents that have
not received feedback on their complaints
should expect it soon.
The question has been raised of how
Roelvert can, after so many years, still be
chairperson of the committee. According to the
Constitution, he is allowed to remain as chairman
for a total of six years, giving him another
year as chairperson as Golden Years was only
established in 2005 when they were still in
Circle Drive in Tzaneen.
The quality of the food given to the residents
was also inspected during Letaba Herald’s
recent visit to Golden Years.
Concern was first raised with the Herald in
September 2009 when a resident with Motor
Neurone Disease had difficulty swallowing the
food prepared for him, causing him to have
throat spasms and breathing difficulties. According
to Golden Years, the problem has since
been resolved.
Sarie van Vuuren, Admin Manager of Golden
Years, claims that they had no knowledge of
the resident’s problem, but rectified the matter
as soon as they were informed.
She otherwise assured the Herald that the
residents’ daily meals are all worked out according
to the standards set by the Constitution,
and upon inspection, that day’s meal
looked healthy and sufficient.
During the Herald’s visit to Golden Years,
many complaints were raised by residents, all
varying in significance. One however reoccurred.
The residents spoken to are all concerned
that there is only a nursing assistant and
healthcare worker on duty during evenings and
nights. They are concerned that, should a
serious medical emergency occur at night,
there is no qualified staff member on duty to
give the necessary medical assistance.
A valid concern but one not supported by
legislation, which neglects to state what the
minimum qualification of the main caregiver
on site has to be.
The fact that legislation does not dictates
many issues surrounding institutions such as
Golden Years leaves the door open for them to
operate with no registered nurse on site, calling

Elke een van julle, of jy slegs graad 1 het en
of jy ‘n graad het, is ewe belangrik om die
werk op ‘n daaglikse basis by Goue Jare vlot te
laat verloop.
Dankie dat julle 10% van julle maandlikse
salaris vir drie maande aan die einde van
verlede jaar afgestaan het en dat julle vir die
afgelope drie jaar sonder verhogings gewerk
het. Op die manier kon Goue Jare die fooie vir
inwoners so laag as moontlik hou.
Ons is waarlik trots op die span.

wil hê nie - dankie! As ons enige name
uitgelos het, ons vra verskoning en hoop julle
weet dat dit nie met opset gedoen is nie.

into question the safety of the residents, but
definitely not the legality of the institution.
The shortage of nurses in the country and the
competitive salaries offered by state hospitals
are definitely a matter of concern as this often
leaves residential facilities such as Golden
Years with a shortage of nurses.
Golden Years itself only employs one registered
nurse.
Another concern for Golden Years is the fact
the they can house 49 people, but is currently
only 53% full. Considering that the premises
are being leased, this puts extra financial
pressure on the establishment.
Golden Years has tried not to fill vacant posts
to keep expenditure down (according to them,
keeping within the lawful caregiver/resident
ratio), but still needs those empty beds filled to
alleviate their financial stresses.
They are calling on the community to aid
them in this respect.

Ons is goed bekend by al die verpleeg
personeel, en kan net sê die behandeling wat sy
hier gekry het, baie goed was.
Teen die einde, toe sy nie meer kon eet nie, is
sy met ‘n drupper gevoer, en geen moeite is
ontsien om haar so gerieflik moontlik te maak
nie.

state in South Africa at meeting
‘THE DEVELOPMENTAL state in South Africa:
free market or interventional’ was the topic of
a presentation given at the luncheon of the
Greater Tzaneen Chamber of Commerce on
June 11.
The presentation
was given by Danie
Swanepoel, a local
attorney. Here follows
a brief summary

South Africa has
committed itself to
building a developmental
state. The
concept of a developmental
state is a
form of governance
that shapes the output
and structure of
the economy.
It plays an active
role in guiding economicaldevelopment
and uses the
resources of the
country to meet the
needs of the people.
It strikes a balance
somewhere between
total capitalism and
total socialism.
In most countries
the state plays some
role in shaping the
structure and output
of the economy. The
question will be as to
how far the intervention
will lean towards
the one (capitalism)
or the other
(socialism).
The recent proposal
by the National
Union of Mineworkers
on future ownership
of mines illustrates
the point: (see
Table 1).
The proposal illustrates
that the Government
on its own
does not hold majority
shares, neither
does the private sector.
The support of
employees and civil
organisations may
however influence
decision making.

cused of enriching themselves in a corrupt, nepotistic and
improper manner, whilst the poor and youth of our country
are shouting, ’But what about us!’
It is interesting to note that the Freedom Charter (adopted
at Kliptown on June 26, 1955) declares that, "The mineral
wealth beneath the soil, the banks and monopoly industry
shall be transferred to the ownership of the people as a
whole. All other industry and trade shall be controlled to
assist the wellbeing of the people".
The wording "ownership of the people as a whole" and
"controlled to assist the wellbeing of the people" are
significant.
For a developmental state to work, the state must have the
strategic capacity to take the lead and unite the public
sector, business, labour and civil society in a partnership
geared to implement a common national agenda.
It must also have the organisation and technical capacity
to ensure that the most effective and efficient structures are
in place so that the main objectives are implemented
through programmes and projects. Technical capacity also
involves the ability to plan and monitor the implementation
of programmes and projects.
It should be clear from all of these tasks, that the success
of a developmental state requires a higher premium on the
state's human capacity to carry out its work and the ability
of Government to work with all sectors (its social partners)
to build a better life for all.
Most may feel that there is very little that can be done to
contribute to the national agenda. To an extend this may be
true, but I want to argue that the same goals and principles
will be applicable, closer to home, to at least any local
government and its local social partners.
The Constitution (Sec 153(a)) in actual fact states that, "A
municipality must structure and manage its administration
and budgeting and planning processes to give priority to the
basic needs of the community, and to promote the social
and economic development of the community".
Are we as local business people and so called ‘capitalists’
going to actively take up the challenge and make a
difference in our area, or are we going to leave it up to the
so called ’communists’ to try and find the way?
Is it not a question of active entrepreneurial engagement
to find the balanced strategy that will win the war against a
common enemy going by the name of ‘Poverty’?
And the ordinary people on the street? Are we actively
going to ensure, across residential and other divides, that
our local governmental structures stay true to its constitutional
mandate and the application of the eight principles
of Batho Pele (People First)? (see Table 2).

THE highly covered hole on the Lydenburg
road heading out of Tzaneen. This individual
hole has received so much coverage that it is
nearly a celebrity in Tzaneen. As can be seen,
dirt was poured into the hole weeks ago but
no further action has been taken. The driver
here had to swerve to avoid this hubcapk
i l l e r.
THIS little surprise is hiding in the shadows of
a tree just before a speedbump on the
Lydenburg road. It is deceptively small because
it is deeper than it would seem at first
glance. The Lydenburg road in town ‘boasts’
with a pothole nearly every five meters.

Die gewilde wildtuintoer het
verlede maand plaasgevind, nou onder
nuwe bestuur. Daar sal egter altyd
onthou word van die baie mooi jare
saam met Ben en Jeanette Breytenbach,
die breinkinders van die toer.
Die leraar en sy eggenoot het ook altyd
saam gegaan en die keer was dit vir ds
Richard en sy vrou, Esmé ‘n lekker
verrassing.
Daar was voorverlede Vrydagaand
‘n verkoping by die hervormde kerk en
die gemeente is baie gelukkig met die
mooi verloop van die aand. ‘n Groot
dankie vir die mooi ondersteuning
deur die gemeenskap.
Die ses-jarige Simoné Pieterse kan
weer loop na ‘n pynlike operasie aan
haar beentjie. By die kleuterskool loop
sy en val soms, maar staan weer op.
Pragtig meisie, Liewe Jesus het jou
hand gevat. Ouma Stiena is baie trots
op jou. Pappa en mamma en oupa
Johan en ouma Miemie is ook baie
b l y.
Sylvia, dankie dat jy na my omsien
veral toe ek ongesteld was. Dr Ig het
my ook laat een aand kom bystaan.
Vriendinne bel steeds om my te ondersteun.
My haarkapster, Flo het my
ook nie vergeet nie. Dit doen soveel
wondere vir senior burgers om op ‘n
hoë ouderdom deur soveel mense
geliefd en onthou te word en erkenning
te kry vir die bydrae wat hulle
gelewer het. Tannie Lappies.
Iets besonders het my ook te beurt
geval. Ds Richard en twee kerkraadslede
het nagmaal aan my by die huis
kom bedien. Dankie, ek waardeer dit
baie en mag die Here julle seën. As die
koue verby is sal ek graag my kerk

haar stem opgetel en sy moet ‘n ernstige

Fantastic Plastics competition
calls for local entries
IMAGINE a day without plastics.
The annual and highly successful Fantastic
Plastics Competition 2010, coordinated by the
plastic industry's Enviromark, is underway
and the call for entries is open.
The theme for this year's competition is
’IMAGINE… a day without plastics’, and
includes the themes, ‘IMAGINE…anything is
possible with plastics’; ‘...a life without plastic
packaging’; ‘...a clean South Africa’ and ’Fantastic
plastics’.
First prize includes R5 000 for the school
and R7 000 for learners plus a fun-filled
weekend in Knysna in September.
The weekend will include the prize-giving
event, sightseeing and participation in the
International Coastal Clean-Up on September
18.
The Fantastic Plastics Competition was
launched in 2006 and has grown by leaps and
bounds. In 2009, entries were received from
all over the country, from rural schools to
private schools.
This year, the competition is for Grade 4 - 12
learners. The closing date for entries is July
23.
The aim of the Fantastic Plastics Competition
is to create awareness of plastics
among children and educate them on the
positive attributes of plastics, as well as the
responsible use and disposal thereof. They
have the chance to make a difference in their
homes, schools and to the environment, being
future custodians of the world.
The competition is sponsored by the Plastic
Federation of South Africa, PETco and the
Polystyrene Packaging Council.

Mall and the CBD marched up and down the street in honour of Bafana Bafana. Tzaneen Pharmacy, and then FNB,
gathered in front of the pharmacy to show some Bafana spirit when several other businesses decided to join in the
fun.

lekkergoed en 'n cupcake is aan meer as 100
kindertjies daar uitgedeel.
Kinderhartjies is verder verbly deur die talle
Dinamusmense wat hulle gesiggies geverf
het.

'n pragtige Jesus-boodskap van hoop gebring.
'n Tolk het seker gemaak dat almal die
boodskap mooi verstaan.

Club puts on show,
supports orphanage
THE second annual Music-in-the-Mountain,
an initiative of the Letaba Rotary Club, took
place on Friday, June 4.
The event took place at the scenic Warriors
Barn in Magoebaskloof with a variety of entertainers.
The youngsters were represented by Mirandi
Espach from Ben Vorster, Aiden-Skye Wolff
from Stanford Lake College and Magdie Kasselman
from Tzaneen Primary School.
The young at heart were entertained by the
master of ceremonies, Roy Hurter from
Tzaneen, and Eugene van Heerden from Polokwane.
After delicious snacks and soothing singing
voices, the guest got their chilly blood flowing
on the dance floor.
The purpose of the evening was to raise
funds for a Christmas party for the children of
the Abraham Kriel Children's Home in Nylstroom.
During the course of the evening, two bottles
of wine were auctioned off as an additional
f u n d r a i s e r.
The Letaba Rotary Club would like to thank
everybody who attended the evening, helping
to make it a success.
The Christmas party for the children will take
place in November.

Good year for SLC sport
THIS PAST term has been kind to Stanford’s
sports teams.
The Limpopo Schools boys hockey semifinals
were played at PHS recently. Although
Stanford lost their U/16 game against Merensky
2 - 1, the 1st XI team went through to the
finals and won their game against PHS 2 - 1
and was crowned the Limpopo Hockey
League champions.
The Limpopo Small Schools rugby semi-
finals were played at Louis Trichardt High
r e c e n t l y.
The 1st XV team beat Settlers 47 - 12.
Both the U/15 and the 1st XV rugby teams
will play in the Small Schools finals in July.
In the meantime, Stanford’s unbeaten 2nd
XV rugby team was crowned the Limpopo
Small Schools 2nd League champions for
2010.

DAAR heers groot opgewondenheid oor dié
jaar se Mountain2Mountain padfiets wedren
wat op Saterdag 17 Julie plaasvind!
Dié wedren het van dié jaar af die groot eer
en voorreg om 'n kwalifiserende wedren vir
die Argus te wees.
Dinamus Gemeenskapskerk het die eerste
Mountain2Mountain padfietswedren in 2008
aangebied.
Die hoofdoel vir die begin van die wedren
was om die breër gemeenskap van Tzaneen te
dien. Met fietsryers van reg oor die land wat
ons dorp besoek, asook die verkryging van
groot nasionale borge word daar gepoog om 'n
groot ekonomiese inspuiting vir ons
gemeenskap te gee.
Die wedren het die afgelope twee jaar so
gegroei dat die begin en eindpunt van die
wedren na die skouterrein verskuif is. Die res
van die roete bly egter onveranderd.
Daar is die 108km Mountain2Mountain
Challenge vir die geharde fietsryer asook 'n
34km fietswedren om die dam.
Elke fietsryer wat aanlyn registreer kry 'n

Gr1-7 word dié jaar ook op die Saterdag van
die hoofwedren aangebied.
Oulike roetes word vir die kinders op die
skouterrein beplan waar hulle veilig en onder
toesig hulle wedrenne sal voltooi. Elke kind
wat die wedren voltooi kry ook 'n medalje.
Talle kosstalletjies soos yankees, boereworsrolle,
kerrie en rys ens asook springkastele vir
die kinders sal vermaak vir die toeskouers help
verseker terwyl hulle vir die fietsryers wag.

met 115 punte teenoor die 110
punte oor Tshipise geseëvier. Almal
was beindruk met die mooi en
netjiese bane van Eiland Spa.
Saterdag 22 Mei was dit weer
die beurt van Eiland Spa se rolbalspelers
om naam te maak.
Vroeg die oggend het 6 jolige
spanne met 'n bus na Louis
Trichardt vertrek om aan die jaar-
likse driehoekige "Copper cup"
toernooi tussen Louis Trichardt,
Tshipese en Eiland Spa deel te
neem.
Weer eens het die spanne van
Eiland Spa geseëvier met Tshipise
tweede en Louis Trichardt in die
derdeplek.
Die bus met die jubelende spelers
is by Eiland Spa terug verwelkom
deur o.a. die bestuurder
Tommie du Plessis. Tommie het
ook die hoop uitgespreek dat die
inwoners van Tzaneen en omgewing
meer gebruik sal maak van die
wonderlike sportfasiliteite wat Eiland
Spa bied.
