Hillside School has worked with
Sainsbury’s West Hove to create
a gallery in the cafe during the
Open House festival.
The students at Hillside Special
School, aged 4-16, have a wide
range of learning, physical and
sensory difficulties. They have
been working on creating art
using a variety of media and
techniques with the theme of
‘Fruit and Veg’ which fits in with
their topic focus of Healthy Eating.

The Studio.
When the Hungarian-born
sculptor Brancusi died in 1957
he bequeathed his art to France,
where he had spent his working
life, on condition it be shown only
Beaded Lily Glass Works—Hove
within the context of his studio.
Taking the studio as a starting
point, APEC artists offer some
points for reflection upon the
studio itself. An imaginative site,
hotly contested, it is so much
more than just a place to make
work, offering an economy of
exchange different from the
prevailing system’s.

Beaded Lily Glassworks is a
lampwork and fusion glass studio
that was established in 2005 in
Florence, Italy and moved to
Hove in 2011.
In-house artisans Lily Morda
and Tim James offer a wide
range of classes in Venetian-style
glass bead making, glass fusion,
jewellery design and mixed
media decorative arts.
Also featured is an interesting
array of mostly European-made
jewellery making components,
hand made beads, artisan
jewellery and mixed media
decorative art items for both
home and body.
