are ubiquitous, affecting 5 % of the population and causing millions of dollars in lost productivity and health care
expense. Every dental practitioner will encounter these patients frequently. Many TMD's are managed
successfully non-surgically. TMJ surgery has a definite role to play in TMD treatment algorithms and is currently
a very underutilized modality. This lecture will blend current dentofacial orthopedic and rheumatological concepts
necessary to a modern approach to understanding, diagnosing and treating TMD. In this presentation, Dr. David
J. Psutka will talk about:
Anatomy , growth and development
Physiology and Patho-physiology
Classification and Diagnosis of TMDs
An approach to management of TMDs.
A detailed overview of the current practice of TMJ Surgery.
