CLEANTECH IN SWEDEN
Green Business Region is an innovation and collaboration arena for
cleantech companies in the two counties of Dalarna and Gävleborg.

CLEANTECH CompANIES
Green Business Region is run
by the Teknikdalen Foundation
in Borlänge and aims at
establishing Dalarna/
Gävleborg as a leading cleantech
region in 2015. The network support
companies in the green sector to grow
and create new jobs by developing
sustainable solutions for the future.
The region is strong in the following
are strong in energy efficiency in the
building sector, water purification,
solar power technology, wind power
technology and wehicles and alternative
fuels (electricity and biogas).
One success factor for Green
Business Region is to find good
models for cooperation between the
business, academic and public
sectors. In that process, the University
of Dalarna, the University of
Gävle along with the different
municipal energy companies play an
important role.
In 2007 Dalarna was appointed
“Pilot Region for Green Development”
by the Swedish Government along
with the counties of Skåne and
Norrbotten. Green Business Region is
an active partner in this honourable
nomination, which involves spreading
examples of best practice to other
regions in Sweden.
Except the obvious focus on
supporting cleantech companies to go
from Ideas Into Business, Green
Business Region also takes initiatives
to establish other forms of regional
collaboration projects. Among other

the organisers of the 2015 FIS World
Championships in Falun – Beyond

international event of that size
inevitably encounters.
This helped integrate sustainability
issues at an early stage of the
planning process. Green Business
Region now works closely with ÅF, the
County Administrative Board and Falu
Energy & Water to support the event
organisers implement sustainable
practices.
