What you need:
Sturdy footwear, water, provisions and
swimsuits depending on the season.
Duration:3 hours
Category: Medium.
Start from Panagies Beach at the far
end of Alinda Bay.
Follow the white wall behind the Greek
tavern. A path leads through the red
rocks. Keep to the left until you reach a
makeshift gate marked in Greek lettering
with a white bag. With the sea on
your right, keep to the left and head
slightly uphill and cross country to a
massive rock overhang. Once you have
reached the crest, cross a rocky slope
where you will already be able to see
Kryphos Bay below you.
The descent follows narrow, almost
unnoticeable goat trails down to the
beach. On the left, you will discover a
small cove worth exploring.
Enjoy a refreshing dip in the crystal waters
or a picnic on the pebble beach.
Should you still have the energy, in
the spring & summer the dry riverbed
provides a route back. The terrain
varies between steep inclines and level
ground, following the route channelled
out by centuries of water on rock.
When you reach a country lane, keep
to your left and walk towards, and then
over, the crest of the ridge upwards to
the chapel of “Agia Nikitas”.
From here, it is an easy walk back to
Alinda.
It is a pleasant walk back along the
waterfront of the island´s small and
relaxed resort area, with its indented
coves and pastel-coloured villas, to the
bustle of Aghia Marina.

Historical Note:
In 1943, German troops managed to
land in idyllic Kryphos Bay unnoticed
by the Italian occupying forces. From
here they moved in and conquered
the island.
CULTURAL TIP:
The
Bellini Tower
in Alinda
In Alinda do not miss the Bellini Tower,
the historic mansion of the Lerier Parissia
Bellenis.
Built in 1925/26, it is now a folklore
museum containing many photos and
documents from the time of the Turkish,
Italian and German occupations.
