What you need:
Sturdy shoes, water, provisions and
swimsuits depending on the season.

Start out at the port of Aghia Marina.
Follow the road uphill to Platanos and
turn right after the school. At the Archaeological
Museum, turn right again
and follow the path up the mountain.
Cross the main road into the district of
Patelo. Follow the path past a small
chapel until you reach a small square.
Cross the square and take the right fork
in the road. Behind the playground,
make a sharp turn. This leads you
along the north side of Meroviglia to
the main road.
Enjoy the beautiful view of the Bay of
Krithoni and Alinda. Bear left along the
main road until you reach a diversion
signposted “ Rentability Changed”.
This road leads you along the southern
slope of the mountain and then up to
the summit.
Upon closer inspection, the lush vegetation
of Meroviglia reveals many
small paths leading off in all directions
along the mountainside allowing you
to explore at will.Enjoy the bird´s-eye
view and stunning vistas across Platanos,
the Castle, the fishing hamlet of
Panteli, Lakki and Alinda.
Strategically important through the
ages, the remains of numerous, interesting
military installations from WWII
can be found in the area, some only
recently uncovered.
The return walk leads you back to the
main road which you follow to the fork.
Here you can choose either to take the
direct way back to Agia Marina or to
follow the route around the Bay of Kri-

thoni. To do this, turn left and follow the
wide arc of the Bay of Krithoni along
the crest of the ridge to the end.
On your way back to Agia Marina, why
not enjoy a refreshing dip in the sea!
Or spend a pleasant hour in Agia Marina,
watching the local life from a café
chair port side!

The
Archaelogical
Museum
The building dates from 1882 and
houses displays of Neolithic tools, ceramic
fragments as well as numerous
valuable documents from the times of
the Maltese Knights of St. John.
