EDITORIAL RMREPORT
Dear Customer and Friend of
RUBBLE MASTER,
RUBBLE MASTER celebrated its 20th
anniversary last year. Twenty years in which
the company has developed continuously
and become what is now the global industry
leader in mobile Compact Recycling. Such
an achievement is only possible with joined
forces and the remarkable loyalty that our
customers and sales partners place in the
RUBBLE MASTER brand. An innovative, sophisticated
product and the associated services
are the cornerstones of our success.
But to provide peak performance you need
open-minded corporate culture. With this
in mind, RUBBLE MASTER attaches great
importance to the human element. Openmindedness
and transparency are values
that foster true partnerships in corporate
culture. Nurturing professional relationships
with our partners is crucial to us.
The RUBBLE MASTER spirit goes out to the
whole world via the RM Club. This is how
we create regular exchanges that bear fruit
for all sides and generate new impulses.
The first Product Champion Workshop was
held at the RUBBLE MASTER headquarters
in Linz on 26 and 27 January 2012. The
wealth of input is integrated in our strategy
BREAK NEW GROUND
INNOVATION AFTER INNOVATION AT RUBBLE MASTER
The masterminds at the global industry leader in mobile Compact
Recycling have tried things out, put things to the test and gone back
to the drawing board until they had the sparks of inspiration. RUBBLE
MASTER has a whole host of innovations again for its customers in
2012. Profitable recycling in the compact class offers additional incentives
for companies that want to earn money from construction waste.
The RUBBLE MASTER product portfolio now has a new addition in the form of the RM100 GO!.
This power pack is a profitable and new generation high-performance crusher. The RM100 GO!
features the downstream MS100 GO! screen box and RFB refeeding belt. The stage for the world
premiere will be the MAWEV Show 2012 in Enns. The proven single-piece vibro channel will be
another highlight. The RUBBLE MASTER team has now managed to improve performance considerably
through innovations. The fully removable discharge belt and OS oversize grain separator
also contribute towards even greater efficiency in the working process. It will be interesting to see
what innovations RUBBLE MASTER has in store in the future!
As the technology leader, RUBBLE MASTER sees progress in the simplification of use and
increase in efficiency.
The unique GO! principle makes the innovation forge the benchmark of the branch.
The sophisticated technology that goes into every
RUBBLE MASTER has made the company the
technology leader. To remain state-of-the-art,
research and development have to play a key
role in operations. This is a hallmark of RUBBLE
MASTER that truly pays off for customers.
Uncompromising quality in every respect is
what the premium supplier is all about. And this
applies particularly to the aggregate produced by
the RUBBLE MASTER impact crushers which is of
the finest quality, turning what some people may
consider to be a worthless starting material into a
profitable end product.
The operating and maintenance costs of RUBBLE
MASTER Compact Recyclers are extremely negligible.
The low fuel consumption of the crushers is
a crucial factor, especially with regard to increasing
crude oil prices. Reducing CO 2 emissions also
helps to protect natural resources.
The GO! principle has taken RUBBLE MASTER
to new heights in the profitable processing
of construction debris. With the compact yet
high-performing crushers, mobile recycling works
literally at the push of a button. Extremely easy use
and maintenance are key arguments in favour of
the GO! line.
In the beginning – and in the case of
RUBBLE MASTER this was back in 1991
– there was a vision. Today the Linz-based
Austrian innovation forge is the global
market leader in mobile recycling in the
compact class.
The Dealer Meeting in October 2011, at
which sales partners from all corners of
the globe joined forces to develop solutions
for a variety of themes, culminated
in the gala dinner in celebration of the
20-year anniversary.
Gerald Hanisch brought smiles to the
faces of his guests with a number of
amusing anecdotes. The unique corporate
Variety of challenges for the RM100 in Bedford
Cavaliere Onsite Recycling won a contract
to crush and recycle rubble for the department
of public works. The contract was to
crush 20,000 tons of all sorts of materials to
0-20 mm recycled aggregate.
The RM100 faced a wide variety of challenges
in this project. The rock – which ranged from
soft shale to hard granite – had to be crushed
just the same as the dirt which consisted of fine
dry sand to wet, sticky clay. There was also a
considerable amount of old concrete sidewalks
and asphalt millings from roadways to recycle
as well. The RM100 with OS100 EC oversize
screen and RFB refeeding belt proved to be the
optimum machine for this job. Daily averages
ranged from 800 to 1,500 tons of recycled
material with outstanding quality. “Besides
0-20 mm we also needed material up to
0-32 mm. The flexibility and speed of the
RM100 and OS100 EC were highly impres-
sive,” said the supervisors from the Bedford,
NY highway department. As the work was carried
out in the immediate vicinity of residential
neighbourhoods, noise levels were also crucial.
tion, however, there were no complaints at all
from neighbours. The highway department was
so satisfied with how the contract was handled
that Cavaliere Onsite Recycling was contracted
again for further recycling jobs.
RUBBLE MASTER in action after hurricane devastation
Time was of the essence after Hurricane Irene
left a trail of devastation through the country
– including Vermont. RUBBLE MASTER
machines worked flat out to provide material for
The narrow and long job site meant that it was necessary to stockpile material with a pile that was 22 m high
and 100 m long. As the access roads on both sides had to be open at all times for highway maintenance vehicles
the excavator was positioned higher up to load the RM100 with material from the pile.
the rebuilding of roadways. D&D Excavating who
has been operating a gravel pit in Hartland, Vermont
for five years was contracted to carry out
the work. Towns throughout the county were in
Hurricane Irene left a trail of river rock, concrete
and asphalt in its wake throughout the
entire state of Vermont. An RM70 GO!, RM80,
RM100 and TS3600 were used to turn it into
material for the rebuilding of roadways.
urgent need of the processed material as some
residents were landlocked due to the storm
damage. The job entailed processing material
that varied from wet gravel from a riverbed to
concrete and asphalt roadways as quickly as
possible.
The output of the RM70 GO! and RM80 was between
500 and 1,000 tons per day, producing
0-75 and 0-20 mm aggregate.
Matt Dow, owner of D&D Excavating, was
clearly satisfied: “The high capacity combined
with low fuel consumption, easy transport and
fast set-up time are what make the RUBBLE
MASTER machines an indispensable production
factor.” Bill Renaud (owner of William Renaud
Jr. Inc.) also called upon proven Austrian quality
in Plymouth. Bill hired an RM100 which teamed
up with a tracked TS 3600 screener to produce
the final product. The RM100 was used to take
gravel down to products from 0-20 to 0-75 mm.
“We found the RM100 with its high production
rate of at least 1,000 tons per day together
with the ease of operation absolutely convincing.
The low wear costs and the high mobility make
the machines a winning and extremely profitable
combination,” says Bill Renaud, sharing his
experience.

RMREPORT
D&D Excavating opens up new lines of business with the RM100
Founded in 1986, the company's original field
of activity was work on job sites in residential
areas. Since it acquired a sand and gravel pit
three years ago D&D Excavating now also produces
and processes aggregate material and
the RM100 was bought to crush the gravel in
the pit for this purpose. This is the foundation
stone in establishing a successful recycling business.
One section of the gravel pit has already
been reserved for the processing jobs.
The company decided in favour of a RUBBLE
MASTER crusher for a number of reasons. The
global industry leader's Compact Recyclers
have a major advantage in that they are ready
for use immediately and are easy to operate.
Thanks to the oversize material screen and the
refeeding belt, high-quality aggregate can be
produced in just a single pass, which is also essential
for D&D. The fact that the machines are
easy to transport is another benefit.
Rebar steel in the feed material - no problem for the RM100
Cavaliere Onsite Recycling was contracted by
Thomas Gleason Inc., a service provider in the
public sector, to recycle 2,000 tons of rock, asphalt
and concrete.
Most of the concrete, which was crushed from
0-600 to 0-32 mm, came from a New York
State Department of Transport bridge deck. The
challenges facing the RM100 in this case were
the significant amounts of rebar in the material
and the wet dirt which slowed down the crush-
The versatile RM100 crusher produces a profitable
end product. The one-touch pushbuttons
make the crusher easy to use for machine
ing process. Thanks to the magnetic separator,
however, the debar was removed from the recycled
material with no trouble at all.
All that was needed to do was to increase the
feed speed of the vibro channel to its highest
setting. The RM100 crushed 700 tons a day to
complete the project in three days.
The owners of Thomas Gleason Inc. were also
astonished when they saw the high-quality end
product: “We were very satisfied with the way
the job was handled so quickly. We were particularly
impressed by the way the RM100 can
break down material as hard as granite rock
seemingly with ease.” The RM100 is ideal for
opening up profitable lines of business.
The remote control enables operators to position
the machine with precision. The impact
hammers can be changed easily and on-site
which means less downtime and an increase in
production. The machine is easy to use thanks
to the intuitive control panel.
Due to their wealth of experience and professionalism
forward with RUBBLE MASTER RM80 GO!”
A RUBBLE MASTER RM80 GO! which replaced
an outdated OM 87V has been in action for the
Swiss Ferrari Group since the beginning of 2011.
“The main reason why we decided in favour of this
mobile crusher was the fact that in the Gordola
region we have to process very large amounts of
a variety of materials ranging from construction
waste, concrete and rock to excavated material
to make building materials of a high standard and
quality,” explains Managing Director Piero Ferrari
jun. It was for this reason that the family-owned
company had the first discussions with Biedermann
Unterhalt- u. Vertrieb (BU V), the official dealer
for RUBBLE MASTER products in Switzerland, in
2010. Ferrari particularly appreciates the fact that,
thanks to its remarkable mobility and easy transportability,
the tracked machine can be taken to any
job site without special permits: “I find the increase
in performance in connection with the considerable
improvement to quality through the RM80 GO! absolutely
convincing. With the high degree of mobility
that the machine has to offer we now also have
new and lucrative opportunities on site that we are
in a position to take advantage of. This means that
we can save high transport costs on the one hand
and produce quality aggregate at the same time.”
Tireless workhorse for rural
areas in Mexico – RM70 GO!
An RM70 GO! is in use at a RUBBLE
MASTER customer in Veracruz in the
east of Mexico where a lot of road building
projects are currently being realised
in rural areas. Delivering materials is a
difficult task for suppliers due to the job
sites being far removed from civilisation.
The RM70 GO!, however, is ideal for challenges
like this.
Its manoeuvrability and compact dimensions
make the crusher an indispensable
means of production for the transport
links that are being built.
The stone ballast for the roads comes
from riverbeds that are either difficult to
reach or inaccessible for conventional
equipment. The river is also diverted in the
process as too much material would be
washed up in high water. The 0-50 mm
aggregate is used for the substructure
and the 0-20 mm aggregate is needed
as base course material. This project is in
the first expansion phase with a length of
13 km and will be extended to 50 km in
the first half of 2012.
Saudi Arabia counts on RM70
GO! when recycling concrete
Even temperatures above 50°C are no
trouble at all for RUBBLE MASTER's power
pack. After a successful three-month
contract at Princess Noura University in
Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, the
RM70 GO! is currently working flat out
at the King Abdul Aziz university. Its job
at both sites is to crush ready-mix concrete
that is no longer required from the
mobile facilities of the company Premco
Ready Mix. In order to be able to feed the
larger blocks of concrete into the RM70
GO! they first have to be pulverised so
they are the right size. The OS 80 mobile
oversize aggregate separator reliably
separates the oversize material from the
end product and the oversize aggregate
is fed back to the crusher again in a
closed loop using the refeeding belt. The
high-value aggregate is then screened
into two fractions by the TS 3600 mobile
high-performance screen. The required
sizes are currently 0-5 mm and
5-20 mm and they are used as aggregate
in the production of new concrete.
Premco is one of the first companies in
the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to take an
active approach to recycling. “Our cost
“We particularly appreciate the flexible
use of the RM70 GO! crusher. Thanks to
this machine we can now also work in difficult
conditions and in places that are hard
to reach,” says the customer, extremely
pleased with the mobile crusher.
savings thanks to the aggregate from the
recycled concrete and the reduction in
transport costs are considerable,” says
Mr Talhat, commenting on the merits of
the RM70 GO! crusher.
Premco Ready Mix has already recycled around
50,000 t of concrete that is no longer required
with capacity averaging 125 t/h. The flourishing
construction industry has brought the company
a lot of orders from large-scale projects
throughout Saudi Arabia. “This is why I feel very
optimistic about the future – also thanks to our
partner RUBBLE MASTER,” reports Mr Talhat.

A phosphate pipeline is being laid
along the coast of Jorf Lasfar to Khouribga,
some 100 km south of Casablanca. A
220 km long trench has to be excavated
for this purpose. The material that is being
crushed by an RM100 is largely limestone
with some quartz content. The daily minimum
requirement for this project is an
output of 600 t of 0-25 mm aggregate.
The oversize material is separated from
the final aggregate using an OS100 EC
and goes back to the machine via the
RFB. This produces the value aggregate
in a single pass which is then used as a
cover layer in the pipeline. “The RM100
is the ideal machine for this project which
will take at least one year to complete,”
explains technical director Mr Abdelmalek
Rahbaoui. The Moroccan economy
recorded 10 per cent growth in 2011
as it remained largely unaffected by the
Arab Spring unrest. The situation regar-
because a lot of used machines came to
Morocco due to the crisis in Spain and
Portugal.
FIS Ski World Cup Adelboden. People visiting the Adelboden Ski Days 2012
at the beginning of January were treated to a spectacular sporting event. It
was a triumph for Austrian skier Marcel Hirscher who won both the Giant
Slalom and Slalom races. And RUBBLE MASTER was there to see it. Together
with Swiss sales partner BUV Biedermann Unterhalt- und Vertriebs AG,
RUBBLE MASTER invited customers and their families to this major sporting
highlight. Everyone was extremely impressed by the legendary atmosphere in
Adelboden.
The first RM Product Champion Meeting
as part of the RM Academy was held
in January 2012. RUBBLE MASTER
invited top salespeople to Linz to develop
new sales and market activities in preparation
for future challenges. Partners from
around the globe happily accepted the
invitation and took part in a number of
workshops to pave the way for the next
steps. A big thank-you to our partners for
the excellent collaboration!
Conquering the peaks in Peru. In July 2011 Ralf Polenda of the RUBBLE MASTER production
team and five other Austrians made their way to Peru. The goal was to climb
Nevada Pisco (5,780 m) and Chopicalci (6,453 m) in the Andes. Ralf Polenda was one
of three who managed to reach both summits. Guinea pigs – considered to be a delicacy
in Peru – could also be found on the menu during the tour. Polenda is already all
set for his next project which will take him to central Asia. “I'll be leaving for Kirghizstan
in summer where I will have my sights set on Lenin Peakat 7,132 m in the Pamir mountains,”
says Polenda, full of excitement about the upcoming tour.
RUBBLE MASTER attaches great importance
to continuous training. And RUBBLE MASTER
AMERICAS also makes sure its customers get
the best possible support. Around 25 technicians
from RUBBLE MASTER sales partners
around North America together with customers
and machine operators went “back to
school” for a few days in February 2012. The
training, which was held in New York City, was
organised by COR Equipment. “It was a great
mix of theory and practice. I was particularly
impressed by the GO! line, above all the simple
and safe operation and access to all parts of
the machine,” says Anthony Rende, Service
Manager at COR Equipment.
Strike! As attendees had already invested a lot of
brainpower in the RUBBLE MASTER Product Champion
Meeting in January, next on the agenda was a fun
evening of skittles.
Sales partners from nine nations in total (Austria,
Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Belgium,
Sweden, England, Bosnia-Hercegovina and Mexico)
spent a very pleasant evening with RUBBLE MASTER
employees not far from the headquarters. For some
of them, skittles was a whole new experience but a
couple had beginners' luck and managed a strike here
and there. The reward for everyone was a choice of
traditional Austrian country fare to round off what was
a perfect evening's event.
