(91) CHAPTER. What should be the<br />

distance between the person offering SaLät<br />

(prayer) and the Sutra?<br />

496. Narrated Sahi (bin Sa'd) Z<br />

The distance between the Mual1a (praying<br />

place) of Allah's Messenger jW, and the wall<br />

was just sufficient for a sheep to pass<br />

through.<br />

497. Narrated Salama 4i e: The<br />

distance between the wall of the mosque and<br />

the pulpit (by the side of which the Prophet<br />

used to offer prayers) was hardly enough<br />

for a sheep to pass through.<br />

(92) CHAPTER. To offer As-Salat (the<br />

prayer) using a ilarba (a short spear) (as a<br />

Sutra).<br />

498. Narrated 'Abdullãh Z. The<br />

Prophet ; used to get a Ijarba planted in<br />

front of him (as a Sutra) and offer As-Salat<br />

(the prayer) behind it.<br />

(93) CHAPTER. To offer As-Salat (the<br />

prayer) using an 'Anaza (a spear-headed<br />

stick) (as a Sutra).<br />

499. Narrated 'AUn bin Abi Juhaifa that<br />

he had heard his father saying, "Allah's<br />

Messenger jit came to us at mid-day and<br />

water was brought for his ablution. He<br />

performed ablution and led us in Zuhr and<br />

Asr prayers with an 'Anaza planted in front<br />

of him (as a Sutra), while women and<br />

donkeys were passing beyond it."<br />
