4:00 PM Visit the art studio <strong>of</strong> Eduin Fraga, a young artist who mixes<br />

newspaper collage and oil painting with various contemporary<br />

themes on social issues.<br />

5:30 PM Meeting with members <strong>of</strong> the Community Project Espiral. Proyecto<br />

Espiral, is a grassroots project dedicated to educate young people<br />

on environmental issues and sustainable development. Discussion<br />

on various pressing issues in <strong>Cuba</strong> with college students and<br />

young pr<strong>of</strong>essionals.<br />

7:30 PM Dinner at El Carmelo with some members <strong>of</strong> Espiral (included)<br />

Wednesday, July 18 – Sustainable Development and Culture<br />

9:30 AM Visit a Farmer’s market<br />

11:00 AM Visit the Organic Agricultural Urban Cooperative <strong>of</strong> Alamar meet<br />

with managers, specialists and workers. Lunch at the cooperative<br />

included<br />

2:00 PM Return to the hotel<br />

Free afternoon<br />

5:30 PM Cultural activity with two community projects: Okan-Tomi, that<br />

explores and reworks Afro-<strong>Cuba</strong>n dances and music traditions and<br />

El Barracón, a women’s collective studying and promoting the<br />

African roots on <strong>Cuba</strong>n cuisine. We will enjoy the cuisine and a<br />

great performance. Simple and traditional dinner included.<br />

8:00 PM Return to the hotel<br />

Thursday, July 19 – Community Engagement and Culture<br />

9:00 AM Volunteer work with Okan Tomi and Espiral at Teatro El Alba<br />

(cleaning and preparing)<br />

12:30 PM Cajita Lunch (included)<br />

2:00 PM Return to the hotel<br />

Free time<br />

6:00 PM Visit the home and art studio <strong>of</strong> ceramist and painter José Fuster.<br />

Learn about his art and his community project<br />

7:00 PM Dinner included at his home-studio<br />
