ABSTRACT
Behavioral Objectives: At the end of the session attendees will be able to
1. Identify three goals of an Adult Day Healthcare Center (ADHC)
2. Discuss the roles of the core services of an ADHC
3. Differentiate between a restorative therapy and a maintenance program.
4. State five mandated requirements to meet licensure for an ADHC
The Center shall provide core services: nursing, social work, maintenance program, and activity
Program. Specialized services are required: Restorative therapy (i.e. physical therapy.
Occupational therapy and speech pathology services), Dietary, and psychiatry/psychology
services. Other services stipulated by state regulations are food services and transportation to
and from the center.
Mandates for both core and specialized services are: Initial evaluations and evidence-based
treatments, reassessments every six months, quarterly progress reports, and documentation every
treatment visit.
Finally, the interdisciplinary team comprised of a nurse, social worker, dietitian, therapists, and
. Patients who were given their
six month reassessment and those provided with initial evaluations are discussed . An
individualized patient care plan (IPC) is established for each patient discussed during this
interdisciplinary team meeting.
Each member representing the interdisciplinary treatment team implements the treatment for
each patient per established IPC.

Univ of Southern California, 1986-1991; Field Work Instructor, Public Admin Internship
Program, California State Univ, LB, 1980- 1981; Senior health care professional specializing in
rehabilitation services with over 30 years of experience. Directed both occupational therapy and
other clinical professionals ensuring each clinician under her direction meets required practice
licensure guidelines as stipulated by the state regulatory bodies and demonstrates accountability
in achieving treatment outcomes.
