EEDI EDI GUARD - AUTOMATIC FILE MANAGER
The EDI GUARD handles all tasks related to
advanced file management. It is ultra-fast and
scaleable from micro-LAN to WAN to server farm.
All functions needed for file handling are combined
in a single application, delivering extremely fast and
ultra reliable transfers due to its' socket-based
architecture.
One of the key standard functions of EDI GUARD is the
automatic receiving and processing of incoming emails
with POP3. The GUARD analyzes all incoming emails,
including their attachments, and processes them according
to comprehensive, user definable rules set by the
administrator. For example, these rules can be used to
instruct the GUARD to move attachments matching preset
criteria, into a specified folder and return a confirmation
email to the sender. The confirmation email could be
constructed to include a list of all received files, as well as
those which were either ignored or rejected.
Successfully received attachments could then be imported
using a preset external program.
All that's required for EDI GUARD to automatically handle
incoming emails is to set a list of actions to:
create a job (set interval for POP3 retrieval)
automatic retrieval of emails
analysis and processing of emails and
attachments
import of EDI contents from separated
attachments with an external program
There are a number of possible procedures, or actions, for
the EDI GUARD to follow:
POP3 retrieval scan & analysis processing:
• separation of attachments
• distribution/storage of emails
• rejection of emails
• import of EDI messages
Execute Program:
Starts any user defined external program (i.e. for import of
external EDI files)
Move File:
Places a specified file in a different folder (i.e. for backup or
archival)
Rename and Move File:
Renames a specified file and places it in a different folder
(i.e. for backup)
FTP Upload:
Uploads a specified file to an FTP server
FTP Download:
Downloads a specified file from an FTP server
POP3 Retrieval:
Downloads emails from a mailbox and stores them in a local
folder
Detach Attachments: In addition, the EDI GUARD includes:
Analyzes locally stored emails (or files) and separates
attachments from their respective emails. Black and white
lists determine how the emails and attachments are
processed, for example, when the email body text is saved
as a separate file, which is of interest when EDIFACT
messages are received as a part of the body text and not, as
recommended, in an attachment.
Delete Files:
Deletes files according to the settings with the following
criteria:
delete files after x days
delete the first x files
delete files created within a specified time period
delete files with specified names
Each of these criteria can be set to include subdirectories.
Send Email:
Sends emails via SMTP. The following log-in specifications
are valid: Login, Plain, Cram-MD5, Digest-MD5
Scan Folder:
Moves files from a specified directory to another location.
PGP encryption / decryption
EDI GUARD is equipped to use PGP keys from version 8.1 or
higher for encrypting or decrypting files. Encryption can be
applied to each rule.
Indices
One extremely useful feature of EDI GUARD is
the ability to generate unique file names where
necessary. When customers send messages with
repetitive names, archiving can become difficult.
The EDI GUARD, however, circumvents this
difficulty without the need for manual effort by
renaming these files based on defined rules.
Integrated job control
The integrated job control of EDI GUARD keeps
track of all performed activities.
