Most recently, the 11 th World Conference on Timber Engineering was organized as Vice<br />

Chairman in June 2010 in Riva del Garda, Italy, with more than 650 participants. Over the<br />

years, skills have been acquired during numerous industrial projects at TNO Building and<br />

Construction Research, the organization of a student excursion to France and the UK during<br />

construction of the Channel Tunnel and later with the organization of symposia and workshops.<br />

A number of workshops has been organized among which a 3-day COST E-29 International<br />

Workshop on Innovative Timber and Composite Elements for Buildings with regard to structural<br />

engineering and fire with 300 page proceedings. This workshop was held in Florence, October<br />

2004.<br />

Budget responsibility ranges from smaller industrial projects (< € 10.000) to European projects<br />

with work package sizes up to € 350.000. Total turnover of the Holzforschung München<br />

accounts up to 3.5 M€ annually.<br />
