Label Detectives
A Sisterhood Earth Day Celebration

Confused by all the green, natural and healthy marketing
buzz out there? Feel like you haven’t got a clue
how to decipher it all? Become a “Label Detective"!
Learn tips to evaluate what’s in your favorite products. We’ll look at
food, personal care and household cleaning products. Grab your
friends and bring as many items as you can with labels that you’d
like to more fully investigate. Join us for this fun and collaborative
session designed to help you become top notch “Label Detectives”!

Men’s Club
Something interesting happened in
January. Men’s Club held a new event.
Jews, Brews and Views. The Jews and the
Brews part is self explanatory. As for the Views,
no we didn’t invite Joy Behar and Whoopi
Goldberg to discuss the world of entertainment
– though that may be a good idea. We invited
our own Rabbi Peltz to discuss a piece of text
from the Talmud – a somewhat edgy piece of
text at that.
And what did we find? We found that this
type of programming appeals to the men of
TBS. Who knew? The men of TBS are actually
interested in Judaism. It seems somewhat self
evident as I write it. Yet, with so many other
opportunities around TBS focused on spirituality,
I truly didn’t appreciate the role of this type
of programming within a Men’s Club. Lawyers,
doctors, accountants, business owners and other
professionals took time out of their busy
schedules to participate in the discussion.
We thought that the recipe for a successful
Men’s Club event was sports, beef and grownup
refreshments. It turns out that you don’t
need the sports and the beef. And I now have
a feeling that even without the grown-up
refreshments, the Judaic text theme would be a
sufficient draw. But why mess with a good
thing. Our plan is to hold a series of similar
events involving Jewish Men, Grown-Up
Refreshments and Jewish Text (not quite as
catchy as Jews, Brews and Views) throughout
the year. In fact, by the time this article publishes,
we will hopefully have had a second JBV
under our belt and will be planning our third.
We are also gearing up once again for TBS
Softball. We have over 60 men signed up.
That’s 120 hamstrings, but who’s counting. If
you are interested, it’s not too late.

of the 2011-2012 year:
