Period of Insurance<br />

Period of Insurance, period of contribution, laid-up returns, cessation,<br />

cancellation and releases<br />

Period of insurance<br />

9.1 Unless otherwise agreed at the time of entry or unless otherwise<br />

provided by these <strong>Rules</strong>, the insurance afforded by the <strong>Club</strong> shall begin<br />

at the time stated in the Certificate of Entry for the commencement of<br />

the cover, and shall continue until noon G.M.T. on the 20th February<br />

next following, and thereafter from Policy Year to Policy Year.<br />

9.2.1 If a Member does not desire to continue the insurance in respect of an<br />

entered ship he shall give notice in writing to that effect to the Managers<br />

not later than 30 days prior to the expiry of the period of insurance.<br />

9.2.2 If the Managers do not desire to continue the insurance of a Member in<br />

respect of an entered ship, the Managers shall give notice in writing to<br />

that effect to that Member not later than 30 days prior to the expiry of<br />

the period of insurance.<br />

9.2.3 In either event the insurance in respect of such ship shall cease at noon<br />

G.M.T. on that day, save that, if the ship be then at sea, the insurance<br />

may, if the Member so requires by notice in writing to the Managers, be<br />

continued until the ship has arrived in berth or at anchorage at her next<br />

port.<br />

9.3. An entered ship shall not be withdrawn from the <strong>Club</strong> at any other time<br />

or in any other manner except with the consent of the Managers.<br />

Period of contribution and laid-up returns<br />

10.1 Subject to the provisions of Rule 15.4 in respect of Overspill Calls a<br />

Member shall (provided that he gives notice in writing to and submits<br />

his claim to the Managers within one month after the happening of any<br />

of the events specified below) be liable for contribution in respect of an<br />

entered ship to the Calls levied by the <strong>Club</strong> for the current Policy Year<br />

pro rata only to the period beginning with that Policy Year and ending:<br />

(i) at noon G.M.T. of the day upon which the ship was legally transferred<br />

by bill of sale or other formal document whereby the ownership was<br />

legally transferred;
