The most important things are to have fun working in an international team,<br />

plan and make cool events happen. <strong>OBIS</strong> gives you some very practical project<br />

management experience which is a nice add-­‐on to your theoretical studies at<br />

MTEC. As president you strengthen your leadership skills by leading a team of 7<br />

people. As a side-­‐benefit, you have the opportunity to meet many interesting<br />

people (professors, company representatives, alumni etc.) and build stronger<br />

ties with many of your MTEC colleagues. Last but not least, it always looks good<br />

on your CV.<br />

PRESIDENT RESPONSIBILITIES<br />

• Strategic planning of the <strong>OBIS</strong> activities<br />

• Co-­‐ordinating the activities of the board and delegating tasks<br />

• Supporting the other board members where needed<br />

• Budget oversight together with the treasurer, access to <strong>OBIS</strong> account<br />

• Representation of <strong>OBIS</strong> towards companies together with External<br />

Relations Manager<br />

• Represenatation of <strong>OBIS</strong> towards the other student organisations<br />

together with the Academic Politics Manager<br />

• Representation of <strong>OBIS</strong> towards international student organisations<br />

together with the International Relations Manager<br />

• To have a direct contact with the department head of MTEC, the MTEC<br />

study delegate and the department co-­‐ordinator.<br />

OBLIGATORY MEETINGS (times per semester)<br />

• Call and lead the <strong>OBIS</strong> General Assemblies (1)<br />

• Attend the MTEC Department Conference as student representative (2)<br />

• Attend a meeting of all students associations with the Rektor of ETH (1)<br />

• Attend the general assembly (MR) of VSETH (1)<br />

• Meet the department head for a beer with the students (1)<br />

• Meet the study delegate for a beer with <strong>OBIS</strong> (1)<br />

BOARD RESPONSIBILITIES<br />

• Schedule board meetings and make sure that for every meeting there is a<br />

chair and a minute-­‐taker<br />

• Be present at every <strong>OBIS</strong> Board meeting (every 2 weeks)<br />

• Constant communication with the board<br />

• Participate and help at the organisation/promotion of other <strong>OBIS</strong><br />

activities<br />

REQUIREMENTS<br />

• Open-­‐minded and outgoing personality<br />

• Willingness to take on the responsibility for the team<br />

• Willingness to help and work with others in the board<br />

• You should be able to work strongly in a team<br />

• Speaking German and understanding Swiss German is a strong<br />

advantage for this position<br />
