Job description
The most important things are to have fun working in an international team,
plan and make cool events happen. OBIS gives you some very practical project
management experience which is a nice add-­‐on to your theoretical studies at
MTEC. As president you strengthen your leadership skills by leading a team of 7
people. As a side-­‐benefit, you have the opportunity to meet many interesting
people (professors, company representatives, alumni etc.) and build stronger
ties with many of your MTEC colleagues. Last but not least, it always looks good
on your CV.
PRESIDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
• Strategic planning of the OBIS activities
• Co-­‐ordinating the activities of the board and delegating tasks
• Supporting the other board members where needed
• Budget oversight together with the treasurer, access to OBIS account
• Representation of OBIS towards companies together with External
Relations Manager
• Represenatation of OBIS towards the other student organisations
together with the Academic Politics Manager
• Representation of OBIS towards international student organisations
together with the International Relations Manager
• To have a direct contact with the department head of MTEC, the MTEC
study delegate and the department co-­‐ordinator.
OBLIGATORY MEETINGS (times per semester)
• Call and lead the OBIS General Assemblies (1)
• Attend the MTEC Department Conference as student representative (2)
• Attend a meeting of all students associations with the Rektor of ETH (1)
• Attend the general assembly (MR) of VSETH (1)
• Meet the department head for a beer with the students (1)
• Meet the study delegate for a beer with OBIS (1)

BOARD RESPONSIBILITIES
• Schedule board meetings and make sure that for every meeting there is a
chair and a minute-­‐taker
• Be present at every OBIS Board meeting (every 2 weeks)
• Constant communication with the board
• Participate and help at the organisation/promotion of other OBIS
activities
REQUIREMENTS
• Open-­‐minded and outgoing personality
• Willingness to take on the responsibility for the team
• Willingness to help and work with others in the board
• You should be able to work strongly in a team
• Speaking German and understanding Swiss German is a strong
advantage for this position
