LOCAL AMATEUR theatre group All
& Sundry, who perform regularly
at Bromsgrove’s Artrix venue, held
a special “James Bond” workshop
recently, in which resident fight director
Ralph Aldis taught participants how to
arrange a realistic and convincing stage
fight (below).
All & Sundry are committed to
involving as many people as possible
in active theatre, and will be holding
a Dance Workshop towards the end of
January. Next year the group hopes
to stage four main productions at the
Artrix, plus a Youth Production in July.

BLACKWELL YOUNGSTER Elliot Nott is presented
with three trophies and declared
overall champion at the Midland Association
of Riding Clubs’ Bromsgrove & District
Championships.
Elliot, who was only five at the time of
the event, is too young to have full membership
of a riding club, but competes
through the Alvechurch, Bromsgrove District
and South Staffs Riding Clubs with his pony,
Majestic Blue Boy.
His success took him through to the
Midland Championships at Bridgnorth in
September, where he won all of his three
classes, competing against children aged up
to nine. Elliot is now the Midland Champion
Lead Rein Rider.
His mother Tracie, on the right with show
officials said: “Elliot has only been riding at
this level for seven months, and I told him
not to get his hopes up, but he put in a lot
of hard work and I am very proud.”

Moving away from the
usual walking expedition
organised by the school
to try something a little
different, they navigated
Loch Schiel, Loch Arcage
and the Caledonian Canal
in weather so bad that
plans changed from day
to day. With the backing
of the school, particularly
Chemistry teacher Mr
Dixon, the students coordinated
and completed
the expedition using
their own initiative and
enthusiasm.
They took part in
training sessions at Upton
Warren for several months
beforehand and also
practised on the River Wye
in the summer holidays.
