n PlANs for a nine-hole golf course on
the former Marlbrook Tip were being put
before bromsgrove planning councillors
on October 10. The issue has split
opinion among local groups and there is
likely to be many requests for further information
and details before a decision
is made. Worcestershire County Council
planners estimate that 64,500 large
lorry loads would be needed to import
the envisaged amount of clay and soil
on to the site.
Meanwhile, bromsgrove councillors are
being asked by their officers to reject
plans for an extension and conservatory
at The lawns residential home in
Alvechurch which they had previously
passed. The lawns has since been made
a Grade II listed building.
finished top of the birmingham & District
Premier league’s Premier Division after
several near-misses in the last few years.
They clinched the title with a five-wicket
win against relegated Halesowen.
Meanwhile, the club’s youth teams
have been putting in plenty of work at
the practice nets, and 38 boys and 15
girls across the age groups have been
nominated for county trials.
A full quota of winter nets will run
from January to easter to satisfy the
needs of cricket-hungry youngsters. For
