are great places for family reunions or just for<br />

relaxing. <strong>The</strong> Playland of Dreams children’s<br />

play land provides a great place for family<br />

entertainment.<br />

Biking enthusiasts come to ride the Glacial<br />

Drumlin Trail, and the <strong>Jefferson</strong> Aquatic<br />

Center offers more recreational choices. <strong>The</strong><br />

newly expanded, nationally recognized <strong>Jefferson</strong><br />

<strong>County</strong> Dog Park (see pg 20) is located north of the<br />

city off Hwy 26.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Rock and Crawfish Rivers meet in<br />

<strong>Jefferson</strong> providing ideal fishing, canoe and kayak<br />

opportunities. A fish ladder constructed by the<br />

DNR in 2005 enables the fish to get above the<br />

dam, quite unique to see and watch! One of only<br />

a few such ladders in the state. <strong>The</strong> Milwaukee<br />

Street Walk Bridge is also very unique.<br />

Looking for some nostalgic entertainment?<br />

One of only a few left in the country, Hwy. 18<br />

Outdoor <strong>The</strong>ater shows double features from late<br />

April/early May thru September.<br />

SHOPPING/DINING<br />

For a day trip, we have an antique shop (see pg 45),<br />

three resale shops, a quilt shop, coffee shops, art<br />

gallery & gift shop, bakery, seasonal garden shops,<br />

farm/meat market, along with appliance, flooring<br />

and other retail businesses. <strong>The</strong>re are several eating<br />

establishments to enjoy a great hamburger, nice<br />

lunch or dinner. “<strong>The</strong> Heron’s Landing” opened<br />

in February just across the Milwaukee Walk Street<br />

Bridge on the west bank of the river which will<br />

have an outdoor patio for your dining pleasure<br />

during the summer months.<br />

Vetro Winery (see pg 17), East of <strong>Jefferson</strong><br />

tucked in the picturesque Sanctuary Ridge, offers<br />

an ultimate free wine tasting experience of unique<br />

wines. Stroll through the gift shop and relax on<br />

the patio overlooking the woods and marshland.<br />
