Freedom PTA Meeting Minutes<br />
Monday, <strong>December</strong> 3rd, 2012<br />

Meeting called to order at 7:02pm by Chris Ault<br />

Approval of November 5 th minutes<br />
Motion by Ursula Kolb to approve the minutes as presented; seconded by Erin Walters. Motion<br />
carried.<br />
Principal’s Report<br />
Dr. Johnson provided an overview of the results of the family survey. Seventy‐seven families<br />
participated in the survey. A follow‐up survey will be done in the spring. The following staff<br />
presented updates in their grade or area: Mr. Dronen (5 th ), Mrs. Beil (PE), Mrs. Halverson (3 rd ), Mrs.<br />
Lindbo (1 st ), and Mrs. Kiefert (music).<br />
Membership<br />
Chris reported there are now 94 members of the PTA – 66 parents and 28 teachers.<br />
Blue 84 Spirit Wear report<br />
Chris reported the second order will be ready around <strong>December</strong> 14 th . The PTA earned about $150<br />
on this order. Also, she explained an issue with zippers on the first order. If anyone has any issues<br />
with the zipper on a sweatshirt, Blue 84 should be contacted.<br />
Committees needing help<br />
Chris reminded the group that help is needed for the book fair and conference meals in February,<br />
staff appreciation week in May, and the yearbook.<br />
Daytime Helpers Group<br />
The group discussed how this could be implemented for Freedom. Dr. Johnson will meet with Chris<br />
this month to discuss and they will bring their ideas to the meeting in January.
Treasurer’s Report<br />
Donal distributed copies of the report for the group. She reviewed the November notes, Balance<br />
Sheet, Checkbook Register, and Income Statement. Joan Houdek made a motion to approve the<br />
report as presented; seconded by Sandy Brown. Motion carried.<br />
There was discussion regarding the table attached to the agenda showing the PTA’s income,<br />
previously approved items, and recommendations of other items to discuss/approve. Dr. Johnson<br />
clarified that the previously approved amount for the “before school math and reading program”<br />
would now be put towards an “after school enrichment club”. After further discussion, there was a<br />
motion by Shannon Jantzi to approve the proposed items with the amount for a camera increased<br />
to $500 and removing the guided reading library. Motion was seconded by Scott Dronen. Motion<br />
carried.<br />
