SECOND TERM EXAMINATION
ENGINEERING GRAPHICS-Code 046
Time allowed : 3 hours Maximum Marks : 70
Grade:XI
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS :
(i) Attempt all the questions.
(ii) Use both sides of the drawing sheet, if necessary.
(iii) All dimensions are in millimeters.
(iv) Missing and mismatching dimensions, if any, may be suitably assumed.
(v) Follow the SP : 46-1988 codes.(with First Angle method of projection).
Part A-Plane Geometry
SET A
1. Construct a triangle of altitude 55mm and two base angles of 40° and 65°.
(4)
2. a.Inscribe a circle in a regular hexagon of side 40mm. (3)
b.Draw a tangent to a given circle of radius 30mm from any point outside
it. (3)
3. Draw two cycles of helical curve for a circle of diameter 30mm and pitch of
48mm. (6)
Part B-Solid Geometry
4. A line PQ 75mm long is inclined at an angle of45° to HP and 30° to VP. The
point P is 15mm above HP and 20mm in front of VP. Draw its projections.
(6)
5. A hexagonal prism of 30mm base edge and axis 60mm long has one of its
rectangular faces on the ground. Draw its projections when the axis is
perpendicular to VP. (6)
OR
A pentagonal pyramid, base 25mm side axis 50mm long has one of its
triangular faces in the VP. Draw its projections.

6. A cone, base diameter 30 mm and axis 60 mm is resting on HP such that
the axis is parallel to HP and perpendicular to VP. The apex is nearer to the
observer. A section plane perpendicular to HP and inclined at 60° to VP
bisects the axis. Draw its sectional Front View and Plan. Draw the true
shape of the section. (15)
Part C-Machine Drawing
7. (a)Construct an isometric scale of length 80mm. (4)
(b)Draw the isometric projection of a pentagonal lamina parallel to
VP of side 40mm. (6)
8. Draw the development of a cone of dia 40mm and height 60mm.
Measure the length of slant length. Show angle calculations. (5)
9. Draw the front view, side view and top view of given machine block.
