BASENJI CLUB<br />

The DFWBC recently held its annual elections. The following<br />

are <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>fi cers for <strong>the</strong> <strong>2007</strong>-2008 fi scal year: (July 1 - June 30)<br />

We also have ano<strong>the</strong>r milestone to report - we became<br />

incorporated as a club by <strong>the</strong> state <strong>of</strong> Texas <strong>of</strong>fi cially on <strong>February</strong><br />

16, <strong>2007</strong>. So, we are now <strong>the</strong> Dallas-Ft Worth <strong>Basenji</strong> <strong>Club</strong>, Inc.<br />

As well as being <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>fi cial liaison, I will again be <strong>the</strong> Specialty<br />

Show Chair and wondered when <strong>the</strong> letter approving us will be<br />

available. Believe it or not - I have already received <strong>the</strong> paperwork<br />

from <strong>the</strong> Fort Worth Kennel <strong>Club</strong> inviting us to participate again<br />

and also <strong>the</strong> paperwork from AKC. FWKC would like <strong>the</strong>irs fi lled<br />

out and sent in July and AKC soon after that. Please let me know.<br />

RIP VAN WRINKLE<br />

BASENJI CLUB.<br />

Our club sent almost $1800 to <strong>the</strong> <strong>Basenji</strong> Health Endowment<br />

this month. The quilt raffl e earned $1410, and <strong>the</strong> rest was from<br />

poster sales.<br />

<strong>Club</strong> member, Hanneke Bjiker, (www.africanmysterys.com),<br />

in <strong>the</strong> Ne<strong>the</strong>rlands, who bought $100 worth <strong>of</strong> tickets, won <strong>the</strong><br />

quilt.<br />

Brenda Phillips won one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> pillows, and Simone Mullin<br />

won <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r. Brenda said, "As a hobby quilter myself I so<br />

appreciate <strong>the</strong> quality <strong>of</strong> work in <strong>the</strong> pillow that I won in <strong>the</strong> raffl e.<br />

My thanks to <strong>the</strong> RVW club for sponsoring <strong>the</strong> fund-raiser."<br />

Simone was so excited, having, she says, "Never won anything,<br />

before."<br />

Also, <strong>the</strong>re were fi ve bracelets,and a necklace, handmade by<br />

Jacquie Cookingham. The necklace was won by Tamara Allen.<br />

<strong>Club</strong> member, Tamara Allen, when told we had <strong>the</strong> Linked<br />

Marker Test for Fanconi, said, "I am sure our little club with a big<br />

heart helped hugely!"<br />

HI-COUNTRY BASENJI CLUB<br />

Obedience Day in <strong>the</strong> Park<br />

Hanneke writes,<br />

We braved <strong>the</strong> heat and joined obedience instructor, Elaine<br />

Holt, for an obedience class at Adams County Fairgrounds on June<br />

16. There were nine or ten <strong>of</strong> us. We had dogs from 6-months <strong>of</strong><br />

excited !!!!!! Well, just tell <strong>the</strong> world: DONATING MONEY dog bed, etc. for an extended time) and Come commands. Elaine<br />

IS MONEY WELL SPENT !!!!!! Thanks to <strong>the</strong> Rip Van said that her German Shepherds can stay in place for up to 45<br />

Wrinkle <strong>Club</strong>, and <strong>of</strong> course to Jo Lunetta, who made <strong>the</strong> minutes. Someone mentioned that 45 minutes might be a long<br />

quilt !!!!<br />

time to expect our basenjis to ‘stay in place’.<br />

Let's hope that <strong>the</strong> money donated by everyone will 'speed- The session gave us some techniques to use in teaching <strong>the</strong>se<br />

up' <strong>the</strong> marker-search for all our Babies to be and stay commands. Thankfully, <strong>the</strong>re was a large shaded area for <strong>the</strong><br />

healthy!!!!"<br />
