Mrs. • Sharon Laiar. Sixth -
Grade ' .
Our class has been enjoying a
• variety of interesting, science.
* studies. We have been studying
about the mesozic era. This is
the'age of the dinosaurs. We
, have learned that the. largest
dinosaur is t)ie Brontosaurus.
The most vicious meat-eating
animal is the Tyrannosaurus
Rex. We also have some interesting
learning stations
about dinosaurs.
We have been making
projects on dinosaurs such as
the Pteranodon, Brontosaurus;
and Brachiasaurus. Scott
McElhenny and Chuck Dunn
had a fantastic project. Just
about all of the projects con-,,
tained tar pits and different
kinds of plants along with the
different kinds of dinosaurs.
We made booklets on pre- Eichenberger, V. Turner, L. Brady, R. LaScala, J.
historic animals. The booklets Cotshott, B. Parker,
were fun to work on. We enjoy . . .
all of our classroom activities.
In English we have learned to
make a variety of poems.
Eventually we will be putting
all these form of poetry into a
booklet. Some of the forms of
poetry are limericks,
Dlamantes, Cinquains, Haikus
and free verse. We have a
sample of some we've done.
Mr. Robert Holden
Fourth Grade
Since the last time you heard
from us we've been very busy.
In February our whole class
put on a play called "Mr.
Lincoln's Beard." Mr. Lincoln
was played' by Bryan
Tochterman, and the Mayor
was played by Billy Dingman.
Our parents and the other
fourth grades were invited, and
it was a big success..
Our reading scneauie nas
been made more interesting
with more activities. Besides
our reading groups, the
Falcons, the Eagles, and the
Cardinals, we now have Labs, a
Listening Table, and seatwork.
We learned how important it
is to know how to write good
letters because we practiced on
each other. Some of the letters
were very funny.
In science we are studying
about electricity, machines and
gasoline engines.'
If you're passing the Intermediate
School you will see
some interesting art designs we
made by a dipping process. We
are all looking forward to our
field trip to historic
Philadelphia.
Dredge worker loses denture B^^EKSEEPE
and city pays dentist bill
W&-H hbiii'kn. Faateiag iU(
The City Commissioners
Wednesday- voted to buy a new
pan- of dentures for a dty
employee who alleges he lost
them on the job, and Revenue
and Finance: Commissioner
Chester J. Wimberg is not
happy about it.
It seems that last October 4,
Robert Graham, an employee
oi| the city dredge, lost Ms
upper denture while working.
He ordered a new denture from
Dr. Richard L. Raab and at
Wednesday's City Commission
meeting a bu> was routinely
passed authorizing payment of
Raab's bill. .
After .the meeting; Wimberg.
said ' he, too, questioned
payment of the bill when
'dredge Captain Richard Hoeh
. refused to sign it. A grievance
committee of the Municipal
-Employees Association ruled
the City had to pay for
Graham's dentures.
Later Wednesday, Wimberg
said he checked the City's
contract wjth the Employees
Association and found that the
City had to pay for all personal •
items damaged while an employees-
is at work. The City's
insurance doesn't cover such
loses under $300.
Wimberg said he thought
about not signing Dr. Raab's
voucher, but added that Mayor
Waldman and Commissioner
Wallace would haveapproved it
anyway. When asked if he
thought Graham might have a
"political tooth," Wimberg
replied, "Yes. I think so."
