LEGAL SEMINAR – 9 TH AUGUST 2012 AT BEACH REPUBLIC
On Thursday the 9th August 2012, Limcharoen Hughes & Glanville hosted
the second of a series of legal seminars at Beach Republic in Lamai, Koh
Samui which was well attended by real estate developers, agents, serious
investors along with ex-pats and retirees.
The topic of the seminar was “Investing in a Limited Thai Company:
revealing the risks and common misconceptions”, and focused on using
a Thai company to invest in real estate. Amongst other issues, the seminar
addressed the key specifications of a Thai company, namely, that a Thai
company must consist of at least three shareholders, the majority of whom
must be Thai individuals or entities, who must collectively hold at least
51% of the shares, and who cannot be mere “nominees” holding shares
on behalf of the foreign investors.
Jeffrey Martin stated “We were very pleased with our second seminar
at Beach Republic. There was certainly an increase in the number of
attendees from the last seminar, and overall the attendees were much
more involved in the presentation. Our firm plans to host a legal seminar roughly every three months at different
locations around the island, in hopes of attracting more and more attendees.”
