According to Schmeltz’s statement on p. viii, the arrangement of Mollusca in Catalog V was based exclusively on
H. & A. Adams’s The Genera of Recent Mollusca. Taxonomic specialists as in Catalog IV, with the addition of R.
Bergh (Copenhagen) for determination of some nudibranchs (Schmeltz, 1874: ix). Otto Semper (Altona) was
thanked for assisting Schmeltz with a complete revision of the conchological material in the catalog.
