the balance of learning and doing that they find at the
university. we have expressed it as preparation + practice;
research + results; analysis + action; insight + impact;
and technology + touch. we have featured the themes
of research, practice and technology in this year’s report.
our second century calls for deepening samuel merritt
university’s commitment to diversity. over the past 24
months, students, faculty, and staff have worked to create
the culture that will make each individual feel respected,
welcomed, and supported as a valued member of the
university community. located in our nation’s most diverse
state, samuel merritt university is embracing the challenge of
serving a more diverse mix of students, increasing diversity
in the faculty and staff, and preparing our graduates to
work with patients and practitioners from many different
backgrounds. as healthcare and health professions become
global in their reach, this becomes even more essential.
we are pleased to report that the university remains
financially sound and continues to grow, despite the slow
economic recovery. our faculty has dramatically increased
their research and scholarly activities while maintaining
high-quality teaching. we have systematically improved
our campus facilities to support more interactive learning.
our students continue to excel in their studies and to
succeed in the workplace after graduation.
we have much to be grateful for, and we particularly
