L e s l e y S a c h e r , D i r e c t o r The mission <strong>of</strong> Thagard <strong>Student</strong> Health Center is to provide<br />
healthcare, prevention, education, and outreach services to a diverse student population in a safe and<br />
supportive environment. The Center promotes campus wellness, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and<br />
personal responsibility to enable students to reach their academic and personal goals.<br />

Provided services to more than 62,000 patients<br />
and over 243,000 referrals/encounters. More<br />
than 53,800 prescriptions were filled (15,839 new<br />
prescriptions and 37,961 refills)<br />
Earned the maximum three year re-accreditation<br />
from the Accreditation Associations for Ambulatory<br />
Healthcare (AAAHC)<br />
Implemented a “free fruit” campaign through SUNN<br />
(<strong>Student</strong>s Understanding Nutrition Now) with over 6,000<br />
pieces <strong>of</strong> fresh fruit distributed to students each month<br />
Coordinated a new smoking policy on campus<br />
which allows departments to create “Breathe Easy”<br />
zones around their buildings and designate nearby<br />
areas where smoking is allowed; 21 buildings have<br />
chosen to participate in this program thus far<br />

Reached over 15,000 students through<br />
presentations, programs and outreach, as well as,<br />
accepted applications from more than 100 students<br />
who applied to be a peer health educator to assist the<br />
health promotion staff<br />
Assisted more than 60 students to stop smoking<br />
through the smoking cessation clinic and tested over<br />
600 students in the anonymous HIV clinic<br />
The First Responders Unit recorded 4,394 volunteer<br />
hours, 1,182 student supervisor volunteer hours,<br />
and 934 staff volunteer hours by responding to 235<br />
requests for assistance<br />
Administered 2,672 flu vaccines for students, staff<br />
and faculty at numerous locations across campus in<br />
partnership with the School <strong>of</strong> Nursing<br />
