Bazen
bu bir büyük velinin hayatıdır, manevî güzelliklerdir; bazen şiirdir, edebiyattır;
7
Sempozyumu (Symposium)
OUR UNIVERSAL VALUES
Culture means refinement and gracefulness. Culture provides
elaborate tastes, manners and character to mankind. The concept of
“Islamic culture” contains a number of our activities within the context
of moral values, social stratum and ethic rules. The concept of culture
one hand contains arts, literature and architecture, but on the other
hand also flourishes as an expression of a well-trained intelligence with
a keen interest on justice and tolerence. The Islam Religion encourages
the works of art and science if and only if their ultimate purpose is for
the benefit of humanity, but does not encourage such works if they
are based on “art for art” or “science for pleasure”. Indeed, all of the
attempts and works of our people reflect the ultimate goal of benefit
for humanity, and even, for all other living bodies.
If we are to refer to our cultural heritage, we should emphasise the
cooperative success of Muslims in different fields like science, literature
and architecture in various locations and different periods throughout
the history.
The remarkable progress which our ancestors have achieved especially
in the field of architecture, arts and science, really deserve a special
appreciation. When we look back to the history, we realise that our
ancestors have erected and established Mosques, Madrasahs ( Muslim
Seminary), Külliyes( Complex of a building adjacent to a Mosque) of
their times, and the civilization of souls in the form of pious foundations-
all have been the source of a great pride.
On the vast land which we are now living, our Foundation has assumed
a very important mission for the ultimate purpose of protecting our
cultural heritage and also, of transmitting the same values to the
generations who will follow ours. When we mention culture, we
surely are referring to a very wide field of interests; Sometimes the
concept refers to the life of a grand Veli( A holy man), sometimes to
moral beauties, sometimes to poetry, sometimes to literature, and
even sometimes, simply to the natural beautities of the beautiful town
9
Somuncu Baba ve Hulûsi Efendi
that we are living in. Therefore, it is our common and ultimate duty to
protect all of the above-referred fields and to pass on to the whole of
humanity.
Of the most important dynamics relating to the cultural treasures
of our country, the leading two are His Nib Somuncu Baba and His
Nib Es-Seyyid Osman Hulusi Efendi. Our scientists are establishing
the thresholds between our past and today, and further, they are
illuminating the past with the help of precious historical documents by
means of the cultural activities and symposiums which we have been
organizing for many years. Our colleagues engaged in literary studies
and other academical staff are really working very hard on the old
texts in order to understand the univeral messages of these texts and
ultimately, to convey them to our people.
On this occassion, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the
scientists who have bothered to come from abroad and from home,
to those who have shared their joy and sense of unity with us by
participating in the symposiums and cultural activities which we
have been organizing to date under the headings of Somuncu Baba
and Hulusi Efendi, and also, I wish to express my special thanks to the
State Officials as well as to the artists who have all participated in our
activities.
I salute our precious friends of soul with profound fondness who, like
during all of the previous services of our Foundation, have attributed
a special attention to and participated in the recent International
Symposium.
May Allah love and help you all.
ŞEYH HAMÎD-İ VELÎ /
SOMUNCU BABA - (1331-1412)
Asıl adı Hamid Hamideddin’dir. 4. Osmanlı Padişahı Yıldırım Bayezid
Han zamanında yaşamıştır.
Miladî 1331 yılında Kayseri’nin Akçakaya Köyünde doğmuştur.
Anadolu’yu İslâmlaştırmak için gelen Horasan erenlerinden Şemseddin
Musa Kayseri’nin oğludur. 24. kuşaktan Peygamber Efendimiz (s.a.v)’in
torunudur. Şeyh Hamîd-i Veli Hazretleri ilk tahsilini babası Şemseddin
Musa Kayserî’den almıştır. Bilge kişiliği olan Şeyh Hamîd-i Veli Hazretleri,
Bayezid-i Bistami’nin ruhaniyetinden istifade etmiş ve Alaaddin
sözü üzerine hutbeyi Şeyh Hamîd-i Veli Hazretleri okumuş, hutbede
Manevî kişiliği ve bilgelik yönü ortaya çıkan Şeyh Hamîd-i
Veli Hazretleri şöhretten sakındığı için talebeleriyle birlikte Bursa’dan
ayrılarak Aksaray’a gelmiştir. Aksaray’da Hacı Bayram-ı Veli Hazretlerini
yetiştirmiş, irşad vazifesi ile Ankara’ya görevlendirmiştir.
Şeyh Hamîd-i Veli Hazretlerinin Yusuf Hakiki ve Halil Taybi adında
Şeyh Hamîd-i Veli Hazretlerinin; Zikir Risalesi,
Silah’ül-Müridin ve Hadis-i Erbain adında yazılı üç eseri vardır.
Şeyh Hamîd-i Veli Hazretleri, Miladî 1412 (Hicri 815) yılında ebedi
13
Somuncu Baba ve Hulûsi Efendi
âleme göç etmiştir. Kabr-i şerifleri, kendi zamanında Halvethane olarak
kullanılan, misk ü amber kokulu, şimdiki Şeyh Hamîd-i Veli Camiinde,
cevizden oyma sanduka içerisindedir. Şeyh Hamîd-i Veli Hazretlerinin
Şeyh Hamîd-i Veli neslinden büyük devlet adamları, âlim ve fâzıl
Somuncu Baba
Türbesinin bulunduğu 600 yıllık camii 14. yüzyıl tarihî eserlerindendir.
Miladî 1596 yılında onarılmıştır. Minaresi, Şeyh Hamîd-i Veli neslinden
havuzdaki balıkların Şeyh Hamîd-i Veli Hazretlerinin zamanından
(Somuncu Baba-Baker Father)
(1331 - 1412)
Hamid-ud Din was an eminent savant of Islam, also known as Sheikh
Hamid-î Walî (Somuncu Baba) was a Sayyid. (He who comes from the
Prophet Muhammad’s (Peace be upon hims) generation). This has been
manifested at all stages of his blessed life. He was born in the village
of Akçakaya in Kayseri. His father is Shemsuddin Musa (may Allah
be pleased with him). His ancestors were the Saints of Horasan who
migrated to Anatolia, Asia Minor, for a spiritual conquest. As a matter
of fact, the off-spring of this blessed family have played significant
roles in the foundation of the Ottoman Empire. In order to study
out in accordance with the requirements of his time, Sheikh Hamid-î
Walî travelled from the city of Kayseri to Damascus, from Damascus
to Tabriz, and later from Tabriz to Erdebil. In these cities he studied
Islamic sciences for many years. Eventually, he became a disciple
of Ala-ud-Din of Erdebil, who was a prominent savant. Due to the
excellence of his ancestors and to the Divine gift, Sheikh Hamid-î Walî
soon gained high virtues, both inwardly and outwardly, with the help
of this revered savant of Islam. Thus having been granted a diploma by
his tutor, Sheikh Hamid-î Walî came to Bursa in order to guide people
to the right ways of Islam. Here, he built a bakery next to his hermitage
(Cilehane), where he baked loaves of bread that he gave people for
free. This blessed learned man, who handed over bread, calling in
people saying: “Loaves Believers!”, soon got the favour of people and
began to be called “Somuncu Baba” (Baker Father). Emir Sultan, sonin-law
of Yıldırım Bayezid (Bayezid II) - the Sultan of the time - had been
assigned as the imam and khâtib of Ulu Cami (The Grand Mosque)
in Bursa. However, at the inauguration of the mosque, Emir Sultan
abdicated the position in favour of Sheikh Hamid-î Walî saying ‘At the
inauguration of the Ulu Cami that really merits this name, the Holy task
of imâm and khâtip is the due right of Sheikh Hamid-î Walî, who is the
outstanding personage of our time. Thus it became manifest that he
was in fact the most eminent scholar of Islam. Thereupon Somuncu
Baba ascended the mimbar (Pulpit in a mosque to deliver sermons to
the congregation) saying: “My dear Emir, you have disclosed my secret”
and then he interpreted the Surâ Al-Fatiha (The first chapter of Qur’ân
al-Kerim) in seven manners. Leaving his son Yusuf Hakiki in Aksaray
he went to the Hajj (the Pilgrimage to Mecca), together with his other
son Halil Taybi and his student Hacı Bayram-ı Walî. On his way back
from Hajj, Somuncu Baba appointed Hacı Bayram-ı Walî to Ankara and
settled in the town of Darende in Malatya. He deceased in 815 of the
same atmosphere to this day by his descendants who are still active
today.
Always fear Allah in both hidden and noticeable places.
Eat less, talk less and sleep less.
Keep away from all sins and wrongdoing.
Avoid lustful temptation.
Do not expect any favour from others.
Quit all decried characteristics.
Obtain blessed qualities.
Do not leave our community with different opinions.
Even if you are starving, do not eat anything suspicious.
Some works in Turkish-Islam Literature have mystic features and
some of them are lyric or didactic works which deal with mystic themes
directly. These works are called generally by the name “Mystical
Literature” but compose a different group with more common
expression by the name “Tekke Literature”.
Divan al-Hulusi of Darende has value and features of this literature
in every aspect. The work is also important as it showed that a human
who could not get education after primary school in the conditions
of that age, could able to reach a good level in literature with private
education.
ADMONITION
Do not suppose the world and the mankind are in your service,
Be a loyal servant of them for God’s sake.
Do not let your desires deceive you, leave arrogance,
Be an open door to all ways, be a step among steps.
Serve the mankind and all creations without any grudge,
Give your hand to whom needs it most, wait nothing in return.
Be respectful to mankind as you respect God, love and be loved
Be affectionate like a hyacinth, like a rose not a thorn.
Do not hurt anybody and do not be hurt as well,
Smooth your words and your eyes.
Even you are deceived and left the house of God,
Do not break hearts, know to use your mind and your madness.
Be affectionate like the sun and modest like the earth,
Be gentle and giving like the water.
Let your name be remembered with grace,
Forgive the mankind, ignore the crimes.
Leave your presence to reach the holy absence,
Do not hide your words, tell the essence of Hulusi.
The poems of Hulusi-i Darendevi and their stories
In the classical Turkish literature, the real stories connected with many of
the poems are unfortunately very rare and thus not known by the colleagues.
In the past, many poets have not assumed any habit as to explain on what
event and for which motive they have created their poems. Additonally, the
close friends or relatives of these poets unfortunately have not recorded
such memories, either. Not to mention some small and scattered information
provided by a few memoir keepers; unfortunately however, very limited
number of poems were actually recorded with the data providing information
to us as to why and on which incidence a poem was written.
In this context, the source of inspiration for the poems of late Darendeli
Osman Hulusi efendi, one of our recent era poets, were not yet recorded
properly. However, the relatives of Hulusi efendi are still alive and thus his
memoirs are in the minds of the family members- but only verbally. Therefore,
the real stories relating to the inspirations which have led to the wording of
these poems, are still in the memories of such relatives but serious efforts are
needed for these poems to be compiled and recorded.
In this communique, some of the poems of Hulusi efendi with their real
stories will be submitted. As a result, it is aimed that his poems could be
understood much properly.
Türkiye’den bazı aileler Pakistan’a giderek, oraya yerleşmiştir.
Dîvân-ı Hulûsî-i Dârendevî’ye Göre Leyla Teması
”Leyla” Of Osman Hulusi Efendi According
His Divan (Classical Otoman Poetry)
In the classical Turkish literature, Leyla was derived from the word “leyl”
which means the very dark black hair of the lover girl resembling the dark
night, and thus symbolizes her in both the metaphorical and actual meanings.
In the divan (classical Ottoman) poetry, the connotation refers to the original
story of “Leyla and Mecnun” which is about the two lovers who were once
separated and never managed to re-unite. In the “divan” of Hulusi Efendi, the
connotation to the story of Leyla and Mecnun has also repeated itself quite
often. In this context, Leyla refers to the lover girl both in the metaphorical
and actual meanings. In the “divan”, all of the features of the lover girl were
mentined and treated in terms of her both physical and moral characteristics.
As a poet, in his dream world Hulusi efendi seems to have attributed a rather
important place to Leyla and hence paid a very special attention to her. In
the “divan” Leyla was mentioned not only in several couplets scattered in
many different poems, but also, she was clearly mentioned in the seperately
written poems under the specific title “Leyla”.
In this communique, the aim is to present several poets of Hulusi efendi in
order to ultimately find out how both the physical and moral characteristics
of Leyla were evaluated, and thus how the elements on “the Leyla of Hulusi
Efendi” were also evaluated by him, and finally; a personal attempt is made
and hence clarified which one of the above-referred characteristics was the
leading one. By doing so, the perception of Hulusi efendi on “Leyla” has been
revealed.
Hayli sonralar babamın – rahmetli el aksakallı Memmedcan Gaçayev’in
derecede talep hissediyor”. Yani benim – on yıllardan beri günü içtimai-siyasi
konular hatta onu bezdirir. Bu anlarda kendimi don vurmuş köklerden birine
benzetiyorum.
Hazreti Peygamberimiz (s.a.v.) buyurmuştur ki, “herkes sevdiğinin yanındadır”.
Ben Hacı Ferhad Mirze’nin “Kelamlar” kitabından seçilmiş 114
etmeğe, öğrenci ve talebelere iletmeye çalıştım.
Litrary And Practical Similarities Of Osman Hulusi
Darendevi Andhaji Ferhat Mirza
I read an excellent book «Kalаmlаr» by Farhad Haji Mirza, academic
of Turkish World Researches International Academy of Sciences, doctor
of philosophical sciences, a prominent educated man and well-known
businessman. Have I heard or read these thoughts somewhere or somehow?
No never. Then why, it was close to my heart? I could not understand it.
Much later, I remembered a phrase by my father -an old, respectful
person Mammadjan Gachayev: «Opinions I have heard by intellectuals are
as sunlight. A icon newly raised from a land, a chick hatched from the egg, a
newborn baby and everybody in the world needs sunlight. Do not forget that,
100-year-old man and a baby born nearly 5-10 days ago is equally in demand
for that sunlight ».My deep need for books, need of a person whose days were
spent in socio-political processes, whose life passed through severe currents,
need of person like me for books is completely natural. A person gets tired,
he feds up with some issues. At that time I compare myself with seedlings
that have just frozen. The Sun «restores» that seedling, returns to the path
of development. All need intellectual’s words, words of an intellectual who
especially knows Islam and divine knowledge, our Holy book and Prophet’s
sayings, the most delicate points of our religion, wisdom and knowledge of
values.
Our Prophet (s.a.s) said: “All are near their lover.” I selected 114 sayings
from Farhad Haji Mirza’s book called “Kalamlar” and with the wish that
these sayings will be used in textbooks, compiled them in a textbook
called “Darslikname”. I tried to convey the light which was lighten by” Holy
Koran”, selected saying about motherland, mother, ethics, morality, respect
for values, about importance of responsibilities which are valuable for
strengthening independent Azerbaijan for students and tried to explain all
these with simple teacher explanation.
Comprehensive literacy and practical way of Osman Hulusi Darendevi and
In the world of Islam religion, Hacegan-Nakşibend sect which has left a
priceless spiritual legacy to all humankind, has a history of nine hundred
(900) years. The way of living and the ideas about love of the ones who had
and today of the Islamic thought.
As all years of Islam, in the later of the XIV century, one of the scholars of
the Sufism scholarship is Hace Muhammed Parsa (death in 865 (1420)) who
was one of the famous persons of Hacegan-Nakşibend sect. His full name is
Muhammed bin Muhammed al-Hafizi al-Buhari. Uzbek and world scholars
have realized researches about his life and his place in the history of Sufism.
But his life and his works are not studied well enough by the society. Thus,
our research is important.
Today, Uzbekistan protects many manuscripts of Hace Muhammed Parsa
biridir. Onun divanında şiirin bütün vezinlerinde ve aruzun bütün behrelerinde
yazılan eserler vardır. Orta asırlara has olan bu edebi üslup mikyası yirminci
asırda her kese nasip olmuyordu. Darendevi bu bakımdan da, seçkindir. Onun
kasaba ve kendileri at üstünde gezerek mescit, okul, hastane yaptıran, yol
Osman Hulusi Atesh Is One Of Peaks
Of Turkish Wisdom
Today Osman Hulusi Atesh Darendevi around to whose light of creativity,
literary and artistic thinking, great tradition of philanthropy we are, is a
favorite philosopher, poet, and teacher who is respected and esteemed by
all Turkic people. Hulusi Darendevi as other Turkish poets left a creativity
heritage which will be studied for ages. But he differs from other poets in
many ways. First of all, he is one of few poets who wrote divan (collection of
poems) in the twentieth century. In his divan there are poems written in all
poem rhythms and in all bahrs of aruz. The scope of this creativity which is
typical for Middle centuries was not bestowed on everybody in the twentieth
century. For this God has chosen Darendevi too. Secondly, his whole creativity
serves truth, justice, ways of Almighty Creator. In Hulusi’s divan all points are
about praises for Allah, moreover, he did not dare to write something about
those who lost the way of truth. Leading the principle of “Allah is beautiful
and sees beautiful works”, he dedicated 76 years of his life to the service for
people.
Hulusi Darandevi gave his spiritual richness to the use of happiness for
people, development of education, science, moreover the material richness
he had, in narrow meaning he gave to the use of people and in broad meaning
to the use mankind. What did I see when I got acquainted with the web site
of fund which is named after the master? There was a list of a wide range
of charitable activities which is realized by the Teacher. He, after the 1960s,
nearly 30 years along with the moral development, did a great self-sacrifice
for the development of material development. How can the history and
nation forget about a person who visited settlements and villages and has
built mosques, schools, hospitals, roads, industrial enterprises, who supplied
people with work, gave money to hundreds, thousands people? You with this
great event did steps that will stay in the history. Let the Allah give the prize
of this value.
Buhara-i Şerif’te Yedi Pir
(Hacegân Tarikatı Temsilcileri)
IX-X. yüzyıllarda İslâm dünyasında meydana gelen tasavvuf ilmi
Maveraünnehir’e Horasan vasıtasıyla gelmiştir. Bu dönemde yaygın olan
Hallaciye, Cüneydiye, Sühreverdiye, Üveysiye, Kadiriye tarikatlarının etkisi
altında şekillenen Hacegân, Yeseviye ve Kübraviye tarikatları XI-XII. yüzyılda
süratla gelişti. Asya ve diğer birçok İslâm ülkesindeki tasavvufî gayelerin gelişmesinde
Hacegân Tarikatının etkisinin önemi büyüktür.
Sunmakta olduğumuz makalede halk arasında “Yedi Pir” adıyla ün kazanan
Hacegân Tarikatı pirleri üzerinde duracağız.
Buhara’yı İslâm ülkelerine, hatta dünyaya tanıtan yedi büyük pir, 1103-
1389 yıllarında (XII-XIV. yüzyıllar) yaşamış, Hacegân Tarikatını sırayla yönetmiş
ve birçok hayırlı işleri gerçekleştirmişlerdir.
Yedi pirin ilki, Hace-i Cihan – Hace Abdülhâlik Gucduvanî’dir (1103-1179).
Hacegân tarikatını kurmuştur. O, Horasan ve Maveraünnehir’de faaliyette bulunan
Şeyh Yusuf Hamedanî’nin (1048-1139) dördüncü halifesidir. Hacegân
Tarikatına ait on bir kuralın dördünü Yusuf Hamedanî, dördünü Abdülhâlik
ikinci piridir. Abdülhâlik Gucduvanî’nin dördüncü halifesi olan Arif Revregî’nin
yüz yıldan fazla ömür yaşadığı ve “Arif” mahlasını Hızır (a.s.)’ın verdiği kaynaklarda
kaydedilmiştir. Hacegân Tarikatının üçüncü piri Hace Mahmud İncir
Fağnevî’dir (V. 1286). İrşadı Hace Revregî’den almıştır. Hacegân Tarikatında
yürürlükte olan hufî (gizli) zikir, İncir Fağnevî döneminde aleniye (cehriyesesli)
zikre dönüştü. Buhara’nın dördüncü piri Hace Ali Ramıtanî’dir (Hace
Azizan). Hace Azizan 130 yıl yaşamıştır. Mutasavvıf ve şair olarak tanınmıştır.
Buhara’nın beşinci piri olan Hace Muhammed Baba Semasî, (1259-1354) silsilenin
on üçüncü kuşağından Peygamber (s.a.v.)’e (a.s.) dayanır. Baba Semasî,
Nakşibend’in Buhara yakınında bulunan Köşki Hinduvan Köyünde doğacağını
Bahauddin Nakşibend, Hace-i Cihan–Abdülhâlik Gucduvanî’den gıya-
Bahauddin
Nakşibend’den sonra silsile-i şerif birkaç dala ayrılır.
Seven Pir(Patriarch) In Buhara-E-Sharif
(Representatives Of The Hacegân Sect)
Sufi treatises that occurred in the Islamic world in the IX-X centuries have
come to Maveraunnehir through Khorasan. Under the influence of Hallaciye,
Cüneydiye, Suhreverdiye, Uveysiye, Kadiriye sects, which are common during
this period, Hacegân, Kübraviye and Yeseviye sects are shaped and developed
rapidly at Maveraunnehir in the XI-XII Century. The Hacegân sect has great
importance in development of Sufi aims in Central Asia and many Islamic
Countries.
With our article, we will concentrate on patriarchs of Hacegân sect
popularly known as “seven patriarchs”.
Seven major patriarchs who introduced Bukhara to Islamic countries,
and even to the world, lived in the years 1103-1389 (XII-XIV centuries),
sequentially ruled Hacegân sect, and carried out good works.
Hace-i Cihan – Hace Abdülhalik is the first of the seven patriarchs (1103
– 1179). He founded Hacegân sect. He is the fourth caliph of Sheikh Yusuf
Hamedanî (1048 – 1139) who were active in Khorasan and Maveraunnehir.
Four of the eleven-rule of Hacegân sect were created by Yusuf Hamedanî,
other four by Abdülhâlik Gijduvanî and the rest tree by Hace Bahauddin
Naqshband (Nakşibend). Hace Arif Revregî who gained fame as a Mahitaban
(death in 1236-37) is the second patriarch of Bukhara. It is recorded in the
sources that Arif Revregî, the fourth caliph of Abdülhalik Gijduvanî lived more
than a century, and “Arif - Wise” pseudonym is the given by Khidr PBUH.
Hace Mahmud İncir Fağnevi is the third patriarch of Hacegân sect (death
in 1286). He took Irshad from Hace Revregî. Hufî (secret) dhikr which was
in force in Hacegân sect, turned into alaniye (cehriye - voice) dhikr in the
period of İncir Fağnevî. Hace Ali Ramıtanî (Hace Azizan) is the fourth patriarch
of Bukhara. Hace Azizan lived for 130 years. Known as a sufi and a poet. The
fifth patriarch of Bukhara Hace Muhammed Babayi Semasî (1259-1354)
descends from Prophet (pbuh) on thirteenth generation of genealogy. Babayi
Semasî prophesized the born of Nakşibend (Naqshibend) in Köşki Hinduvan
village near the Bukhara. He adopted him when he was a three-day baby
and gave to Seyyid Mir Külal (1287-1370), who was his student and the sixth
patriarch of the sect, to discipline him. Seventh great patriarch of Bukhara is
Hace Bahauddin Nakşibend (Naqshibend) (1318 – 1289). after the seventh
patriarch, the sect have been renamed as Naqshbandis (Nakşibendiye).
Bahauddin Bahauddin Naqshbandi was known as Oveyssi - patriarch of
mentor, as he took courses from Shah-i Cihan - Abdülhalik Gijduvanî in
absentia. As sheikhs in question was born in Bukhara, where they were
active in, and the burial and visit places are in this region, they are known
as Seven patriarch of Bukhara among the people of the region. Today, seven
patriarchs are in all genealogy of Naqshibendi sect which is widespread in
Muslim world. After Bahauddin Naqshibend, the chain-i-Sharif divided into
several branches. The thing that connects these patriarchs to each other is
their being in teacher-student relationship in chain-i-Sharif. Their being called
as Hacegân sect is about these seven patriarchs.
İşte bu hadiste bahsi geçen “İhsân” tasavvuftur.
Commonalities Between the
Osman Hulusi Efendi and Ebu Hanife
In the name of God the most Gracious the Merciful
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, Creator of universes and objects and
Innovator of times, Creator of kernels and bodies, Picker of lovers, lightening
secrets of the righteous with the proofs and acknowledgment he lodged,
and blessings and peace be upon who was announced about and believed
in, Mohammad the most honorable Messenger, and upon his brothers the
Prophets and Messengers and all his Relatives and Companions …
The Sufism is a path that has considerable value and significant impact
and great benefit and ripe fruits and fertile valley, and the one who goes
through it rises up his soul and cleanses it from dirt, and elevates the spirits
to win the best gifts, and this path takes who goes through it, to a level in
which he can gain the love of the most Gracious.
Beside all these, it is one of the Pillars of religion, and an integral part of
the concept of certainty, and in the famous Hadeeth which was narrated by
Caliph our master Omar Ibn Al-Khattab may Allah be pleased with him, that
says: While we were at the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him one day, a
man appeared on us wearing a very whitish dress, having dark black hair, the
55
Somuncu Baba ve Hulûsi Efendi
effect of travelling doesn’t appear on him, and no one of us knew him, he sat
in front of the Prophet peace be upon him, he put his knees to the Prophet’s
knees, and put his hands on his thighs, and said: O Muhammad, tell me
about Islam. Then the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said: Islam is to
testify that there is no God but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger
of Allah, and to do the Prayers, and to pay Zakat, and to fast Ramadan, and
pilgrimage to the House if you can afford to find a way to it, the man said: You
are right, Omar said: we got shocked, he asks him then believes in him, he
said: then tell me about the Faith, he said: To believe in God and His angels,
His Books, His Messengers and the Last Day, and to believe in Destiny with
its goodness and badness, the man said: You are right, and said tell me about
benevolence, he said: To worship Allah as though you see, if you don’t see
Him He sees you.
He said: Tell me about the time of the last day?
He said: The one who is asked doesn’t have more knowledge than the one
who asked.
He said: Then tell me about its signs? He said: The mother gives birth
to her master, and you will see the barefooted, naked, destitute herdsman
constructing high buildings.
Then he went, the Prophet peace be upon him stayed a while, and then
he told me: O Omar, do you know who the asker is? I said: Allah and His
Messenger know best. He said: That was Jibreel, he came to teach you your
religion. Narrated by Muslim
And the benevolence which was mentioned in this Hadeeth is Sufism.
Somuncu Baba’nın Osmanlı’ya Yansıması Fetih ve Akşemseddin
Büyük veli Akşemseddin Hazretleri, Somuncu Baba lakabıyla da bilinen
Şeyh Hamîd-i Veli’nin talebelerinden Hacı Bayram-ı Veli’nin tasavvuf terbiyesi
altında yetişmiştir. Özellikle Fatih Sultan Mehmed’in en meşhur hocasıdır.
Onu İstanbul’u fethedecek ve büyük müjdeye nail olacak evsafta eğitmiştir.
Akşemseddin Hazretlerinin şehzadenin eğitiminde oynadığı rol; Fatih’i İstanbul
İşte Akşemseddin’in kişiliği, hayatı ve talebesi büyük cihangir Fatih Sultan
The Reverberatıon Of Somuncu Baba On The Ottomans,
The Conquest And Akşemsettin
His excellency the grand Veli Aksemseddin was trained and educated
under the islamic msyticism teachings of Haci Bayram-ı Veli, who is one of the
students of Sheikh Hamid-i Veli, also known with the nickname “the Grand
Loaf Maker”.
His excellency is the most known teacher of “Fatih Sultan Mehmet the
Conqueror”. His excellency has educated the Sultan in a manner such that
he ultimately was able to conquer Constantinopolis of the time and thus gain
the grand gospel to this end.
The key role that his excellency Aksemseddin had played during the
education of the young shahzadad(the Sultan’s son) Mehmet was twofold:
Firstly, His excellency encouraged the shahzadad from his early childhood
towards the idea of conquering Constantinople and kept an ambitious
determination towards the final goal of conquest by continiously supporting
the young Sultan after he was crowned. Secondly; after the conquest of
Constantinople, his excellency’s continious efforts towards creating a Turkic-
Islamic city from Constantinople to end up as the modern Istanbul, are worth
mentioning.
His excellency Aksemseddin preferred to live in Anatolia and educated
many other students, whereas; he was offered and had the chance to stay in
Istanbul as to go up to the highest governmental posts but he refused them
all.
His excellency Aksemseddin’s life, personality and the relationship with
his student Grand Fatih Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror, are all the subjectmatter
of this communique.
The Impact Of Moral Aspects On Economics From
Somuncu Baba To Date
Es-Seyid Hamid HamidettinEfendiis a projection of Somuncu Baba
Hazretleri at present. The role model Es-Seyid Hamid HamidettinEfendi
rapidly continues the services of Foundation of HulusiEfendi. We are grateful
and thankful to these appreciative people, who provides enchainment to
my grandfather AlimHacıMahmutEfendi(I am proud of being his grandson)
with sacred people in the Mosque of Somuncu Baba, due to great value that
they give to wisdom, Scholars (Alimler) and spirituality. I had never been
to Darende. After our daughter SinemReyhanYalçınmurdered in January of
1980, in her most beautiful time, while she was checking her car in safety line
in İstanbul by a spoiled son of a influential family, we had a great depression.
We faced with unfairness and injustice. HamidetdinEfendi told us to “seek
refuge in Allah”.
At the 5th and 8th verses of the surah of Maide it is stated that: “Believers,
keep the truth up for Allah and be fair. The anger that you have for a
community shall not urge you to be unfair on them. Be fair, because He is
closer to devotion (Taqwa). But fear Allah. Surely, Allah is aware of what you
do.”
Our daughter Sinem wanted so much to visit Darende and our ancestors.
She never had the chance. I wanted to fulfill her desire. In October of 2011,
when there was no plan, a divine power, pulled and brought me to Darende
for the first time in my life. After all these years we have visited these sacred
places. We were honored to be a member of this distinguished family. Even
we come here for the first time in our lives, thanks to God destined us for the
kind reception of these sacred people. The most important thing in our life
became knowing Es-SeyidHamidettinEfendi and met his grandchilderen. I am
an Academician and Economist. I would act in accordance with the positive
sciences. My whole life is based on the accounts. However, I lived in the
Darende mystery of a spiritual world that had never happened to me, and I
never felt until now. I have seen in here, as leaving degrees and titles behind,
that all of the mortals are equal. With visit, there have been amazing changes
in our lives and the way we live. We dived into an endless ocean of spiritual
peace.
Es-SayyidHulusiEfendiHazretleri advises; You do not think the universe as
your own a slave, servant, But you be a slave, a servant to the universe for
the God.
Somuncu Baba’nın Darende’de Medfun Olması ve
Balkanlara Etkisi
Bayram’ın Sultan Murad’la Edirne’deki karşılaşması ve Cami-i Atik’teki sohbetleriyle
Ankaravî, Salâhaddîn-i Mevlevî, Muslihuddîn Halîfe, Yazıcı-zâde Muhammed
Ankara, Göynük, Bursa, Çanakkale, İstanbul ve nihayet Hamza-i Bosnavî vasıtasıyla
Balkanlara kadar ulaşmıştır.
Somuncu Baba Father’s be buried
in the Darende and the Effect to Balkans
However, since he was a humble person, his popularitiy amongst the
people finally made this “bread father” leave Bursa township for good.
Together with Haci Bayram who was by then serving as a religious teacher
in a Medrese of Bursa township, he moved first to Damascus and from there
to Medina and Mekka. It is recorded that after his return to Aksaray from this
visit to Hicaz (Arabia), Somuncubaba founded a Dervish Lodge in Aksaray and
ultimately moved to Darende.
After he passed away, the efficacy of Somuncu Baba was spread in a
relatively wide geographical area. Haci Bayram-i Veli is only the leading one
amongst from many of his disciples and all of these disciples have throned
themselves in the hearts of people due to the fact that they were initially
enlightened by Somuncu Baba. The meeting of Haci Bayram-i Veli with the
Ottoman Sultan Murad in Edirne township and their friendly conversation in
Cami-i Atik, was the result of the efficacy of Somuncu Baba which had already
arrived at Edirne shortly after he passed away.
The efficacy of Somuncu Baba was mostly spread via the khalifs
(commanders of the faithful) of Aksemseddin and Sheikh Hızır Dede. The
names of these khalifs were mentioned in a work called Sefine-i Evliya (The
vessel of the Saint) as follows:
“ Ince Bedrettin, Meczub Akbıyık, Kızılca Bedrettin, Baba Nühhas-i
Ankaravi, Salahaddin-i Mevlevi, Muslihuddin Halife, Yazıcı-zade Muhammed
Efendi, Akşemseddin, Molla Zeyrek, Ramazan Halife, Sheikh Muk’ad Hızır
Dede, Şeyhoglu Edhem Baba, Yusuf-ı Hakiki and his followers. There are
more khalifs, too. Of these khalifs, two main tariqas have emerged, namely
Bayrami’s tariqa from Aksemseddin, and Celveti tariqa from Sheikh Hızır
Dede.”
Based on the above text, it is clear that the successors of excellency
Aksemseddin were split into two sects, namely: Hamzavi’s and Bayrami’s.
Somuncu Baba reached at his moral perfection in and Tebriz. Then,
thanks to his disciple Haci Bayram-i Veli and after him to the two tariqa’s of
Bayramiyye and Celvetiyye, Somuncu Baba’s efficiacy was ultimately spread
all the way to Ankara, Göynük, Bursa, Çanakkale, Istanbul and finally, by
means of Hamza-i Bosnavi even up to the Balkans.
Şeyh Osman Hulusi nezdinde bu vakıf, Allah’a davet yoluna süluk ettiğinden
The concept of endowment foundation (Waqf) according to
Sheikh ”Seyyid Othman Khulusi” and his activities
The concept of endowment foundations has earned an important position
in Islam since its appearance, and this concept is characterized in Turkey more
than the other countries; where the endowment foundations can do things
which individuals can’t do, therefore endowment foundations - or what we
can name it civil associations - played an important and serious role in the
history and civilization of the Turks.
In this sense, Sheikh “Othman Khulusi Effendi” realized the importance of
the endowment foundations, and he established an endowment foundation
that holds his name in “Darende” town in Turkey.
The endowment foundation of “Seyyid Othman Khulusi Effendi” became
like a shining beacon not only in “Darende”, but also all over Turkey through
its branches in Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa, Konya, Kahraman Marash, Mersin,
Kayseri, Karabuk and Elbistan.
This charitable endowment foundation contributes morally and financially
in the rearing of enlightened young Turkish generation, who serve their
country, and it also provides moral and financial support in building various
educational buildings, Mosques, Holy Quran memorization centers and
schools all over Turkey. The endowment foundation also provides financial
and in-kind aids to Turkish people.
This endowment foundation was a big dream to Sheikh “Othman
Khulusi” since he started his way in calling for Allah, and the areas in which
he contributed has branched out, so he made numerous restorations and
renovations works for some important historical relics; like Hamid Wali
(Somanjo Baba) Mosque and Faculty, and he constructed a two-storey
supplement Mosque near it, and the endowment foundation also made
restoration works to (Olu) Mosque in (Zawya) district.
The endowment foundation also contributed in the construction of
numerous student dormitories which is known by Turks as “Yurt” that helps
in proper rearing of children and youngsters in different ages.
The activities of “Seyyid Khulusi Effendi” endowment foundation included
medical, scientific, cultural and social fields. The endowment foundation also
held lot of scientific conferences believing in the great importance of such
conferences.
The endowment foundation of “Seyyid Othman Khulusi Effendi” continues
its activities in all life aspects within “Darende” town and beyond, and it owns
the leadership in the charitable actions in “Darende” town particularly.
Dîvân-ı Hulûsî-i Dârendevî’deki Bugün-Yarın Kavramları
Edebiyat metinlerinde sözcükler ve kavramlar sözlük değerlerinin dışında
anlamlar yüklenirler. Hulûsî Efendi Divanında bugün ve yarın kavramları insanın
yaratılışı, varlık, yokluk, zenginlik gibi kavramların yanında değerlendirilebilecek
özellikler taşır. Bildirimizde Divan’daki şiirlerden hareketle bu kavramların
yüklendiği fonksiyonları tartışacağız. Böylece Divan’da zengin bir anlam
dünyasının olduğunu görme imkânı da bulacağız.
The Concepts Of Today And Tomorrow According To
Divan-ı Hulusi Darendevi
The two concepts of today - tomorrow and the function that was
attributed to them within the context of Divan-ı Hulusi Darendevi ( The
classical Ottoman poetry by Hulusi Darendevi)
In literary texts, different meanings are attributed to the words and
concepts other than their lexical meanings. In the “Divan” of Hulusi Efendi,
the concepts of “today” and “tomorrow” are expressed in peculiar manners,
such that, they are to be evaluated together with the concepts like the
creation of humankind, the reasons of existence, poverty and wealth.
In our presentation, by considering the poems in “Divan” we will start
by commenting on the different functions that were attributed to these
concepts. By doing so, we will be able to see that the “Divan” in fact contains
a very affluent series of different meanings.
The Perception Of Bahaddin Efendi On The Sufi’s,
Who Is The Son Of Mustafa Haki Efendi
Bahaettin efendi is a person who is the son of Mustafa Hakkı Efendi, and he
has spent most of his life time in the Damascus township of Syria. Originally,
he was a pharmacist and his works were in the form of two notebooks, one in
109 pages and the other in 313 pages. These notebooks were compiled and
kept in good order by the charitable trust of “ es Seyyid Osman Hulusi Ateş”.
These works are rather concentrated and composed of a number of topics,
namely: The definiton of sufism ( the Islamic mystisizm), the principles of
sufism, the lives and tales of heroic adventures of 35 preceeding persons who
were the descendants of Nakşbendiyye-Halidiyye tariqa. The first chapter
of these works is the bibliography section, whereas, the appendix section
contains also the poem called “the heart” by Mustafa Efendi of Şiran in a
sequence of written verses.
Bahaettin Efendi had conveyed especially the lives and heroic adventures
of Mustafa of Şiran, Mustaf Haki of Tokat and finally Mustafa Taki Efendi of
Sivas through their own disciples who were personally the eye-witnesses
of these grand men; hence these persons are quite important and reliable
source of information. In addition to this, his works should be classified as
“quite rare” simply because he had phrased the events that he personally
had experienced and witnessed which were related to his father Mustafa
Haki Efendi and also to Mustafa Taki Efendi.
With our presentation, we have aimed to unveil the perception of Bahattin
Efendi towards sufism in general but also, the way he had perceived the sufi
personalities of whom he had mentioned in his works. By doing so, we will
have the chance to understand a person who really was not mentioned much
before, and thus will have the chance to present his ideas.
Throughout the history, there have been a number of great men who
have created the stepping-stones for the development of their cultures and
influenced the future ages of the nations. This influence has been living in the
memories, hearts and souls of the people, and is still going on. The whole of
humanity needs such soul builders who are quite familiar with the mysteries
of human beings and human lives. Undoubtedly, one of such great men is
Sheikh Hamid-i Veli (k.s.) who is known as “Somuncu Baba- the bread maker
who is one of the soul builders of Anatolia.
This great man has learned and protected almost every corner of Anatolia
in a relatively short time. To identify him, a number of unique descriptions
have bene introduced like the leader of the tariqa, the guru of moments,
the master of time, the religious leader, the best of the apparent science, the
leader of time and the loved man of the merciful.
Friday Sermon for Sheikh Othman Effendi Khulusi
The Sheikh Othman Effendi Khulusi is considered as one of the prominent
Turkish reformers who raised an intellectual and reformer project. And this
project was represented in Experiencing Islam as a reality present in Muslims’
lives even if the politics in their countries pursue a secular approach which
that believes in the necessity of separating Islam from the real life lived, and
even quarrelling with this religion and fighting against it.
The Friday Sermon was one of the most important means which he used
to deliver that reformer project and Sheikh Othman Effendi Khulusi made use
of such means properly, and the sign of that charity was the extreme diversity
in the topics that he addressed. The Sheikh understood the Friday Sermon
73
Somuncu Baba ve Hulûsi Efendi
as a weekly meeting, in which the Khatib or Preacher must address all the
topics that concerns all Muslims even though these topics seemed far from
the Islamic Sciences, which is from the heart of faith and religion.
In this paper we will try to shed a light on the Friday Sermon by considering
it as one of the means that is used by Sheikh Othman Effendi Khulusi distinctly
to deliver his reformer project to the Muslim masses, and through the book
“Sermons” which contained one hundred and fifty sermons representing
models of Friday sermon made by the Sheikh in different occasions and times.
Makalede
Mu’in Halife’nin oğlu Molla Abdülkadir’e verdiği irşad vesikasi çerçevesinde
Basılan mühürlerden sadece “Halife Mu’in Haci b. Molla Ivaz
Muhammed” ve “Hacı Mu’in Halife” kelimelerini tam olarak okuyabiliriz.
İrşadnâmenin en önemli yanı, tarikat silsilesinin sunulmuş olmasıdır. Silsilede
Peygamberimiz’den (s.a.v.)
ve Kadiriye tarikatlarının birbiriyle karışması (Işân-i Imladan sónra) meselelerinin
Mu’in Halife (Caliph) Baba And Tashkent Sufism District
(19-20Th Century)
When addressing Tashkent Sufism District, we can show that the most
liveliest and peak point period of it is the 19th century. Though in this period
figures like Zengi Ata ya, Şeyh Hovand Tahur, Hoca Ahrar hadn’t lived in
75
Somuncu Baba ve Hulûsi Efendi
Tashkent, in the century mentioned there had been activities of about one
hundred Sheikh from the Nakşibendiye-Müceddidiye and Kadiriye-Yeseviye
sects. In our article, we mentioned about Tashkent Sufism District in the
framework of credential of showing true path given by Mu’in Halife to his son
Molla Abdülkadir.
Today even the tomb of the Mu’in Halife is preserved, accurate historical
information about him is very small. Thus we will be content with irşad
(showing the true path) credentials (irşadnâme, xatt-i irşad, icazet-nâma)
and an analysis of him. İrşatname had been written with nesta style in
Persian language. The text consist of 27 lines and postscript of 11 lines. On
imprinted seal we can only read clearly the words of “Halife Mu’in Haci b.
Molla Ivaz Muhammed” and “Hacı Mu’in Halife”. The most important aspect
of the İrşadnâme is the chain of the sect being submitted. In the chain, 38
names from the Prophet (pbuh) to Molla Abdulkadir are expressed . In the
mentioned paper, it is recorded that whoever want irşad and want to be a
member of the sect, Molla Abdülkadir will make them repent and tell lecture
from dhikr of Cehriye and if he is gifted, he will be allowed to be a murshid
(mentor).
The chain of sect presented in İrşadname is debatable. Abdülhâlik
Gijduvanî took irshad from Hoca Ahmet Yesevi, Hoca-i Cihan is between
Abdülhâlik Gijduvanî and Arif Revregî, a figure called Abdülheyr Fağnevî
is between , Mahmud Encir Fağnevî and Ali Ramitanî and all of these are
explained based upon attitude of the one who wrote or told the chain. As
is known, Hoca-i Cihan is the authority of Abdülhâlik Gijduvanî. Therefore,
deficiencies rose above are might be the mistakes that the person who told
or wrote the chain while preparing the document. In addition, for Abülheyr
Fağnavî, Şehit Nazrhoca Narzami, Halife Aşur Şibirgâni, Halife Haqberdi,
Mu’in Halife activity that takes place in the chain, passing time from hufiye to
cehriye, a detailed research is needed.
In short, these kind of “İrşadname”s are in great importance in researchs
of issues like murshids and being a murshid, issues of irshad, mixing the
sects of Yeseviye and Kadiriye (After Işan-i Imla) in the Tashkent where epics
and tracts are rare like other regions. In addition, irşadnâmes present issues
like generalization and a comparative analysis of them in the future and
identifying new names in the history of Sufism.
Maveraünnehr’deki Tasavvuf Pirlerinin Tefsirleri
Merkezî Asya tarihine baktığımızda bölgede birçok tasavvuf bilgininin yetiştiğini
görebiliriz. Son yıllarda Özbekistan’da tasavvuf âlimlerinin faaliyetini
araştırma, türbelerini yeniden yapma ve tamir etme işlerine önem verilmektedir.
Araştırmamızda silsile-i şerifte Merkezî Asyalı bilginlerin Kur’an-ı Kerim’in
tefsiri konusundaki faaliyetleri üzerinde duracağız.
Tasavvuf âlimleri tahsilleri boyunca Kur’an-ı Kerim’i belli miktarda araştırarak
Bunlardan biri
Hace Muhammed Parsa’dır (k.s.). Hace Muhammed Parsa, 822(1419) yılında
Buhara’da “Tefsiri Hace Muhammed Parsa” adlı eser yazdı. Günümüze kadar
eserin beş elyazma nüshası bulunmuştur. Elyazmalardan biri Özbekistan Cumhuriyeti
Bilimler Akademisi Abu Reyhan Birunî Şarkşinaslık Enstitüsü fonunda
2180 sayısı altında korunmaktadır. Söz konusu elyazmada Kur’an-ı Kerim’in
sekiz suresi (هزمهلا ةروس یلا ردقلا ةروس نم) tefsir edilmiştir.
Tefsire ait eser yazan diğer tasavvuf bilgini de Yakub Çerhî(k.s.)dir. “Tefsir-i
Çerhî” şeklinde adlandırılan eserde Kur’an-ı Kerim’in 49 suresine
Özbekistan
Cumhuriyeti Bilimler Akademisi Abu Reyhan Birunî Şarkşinaslık Enstitüsü
fonunda eserin muhtelif yıllarda yazılan 25’ten fazla nüshası bulunmaktadır.
Bununla birlikte daha sonraki yıllarda yazılmış olan “Tefsir-i Hüseynî”, “Ahsen
el-Kasas”, “Ruh el-Beyan” gibi tefsirlerde Merkezî Asyalı tasavvuf bilginlerinden
alınan alıntılara rastlamak mümkündür. Örneğin, “Tefsir-i Hüseynî”
eserinin müellifi Nahl suresinin 98.ayetinin tefsirinde Hace Muhammed Parsa
Interpretations Of Sufı Patriarchs In Maveraunnehir
(Transoxıana)
When we look at the history of the Central Asian region, we can see that
many Sufi scholars have grown in. In recent years, the research activities of
scholars, rebuilding and repair work of shrines of Sufism in Uzbekistan has
been importance.
In our study, we will concentrate on the interpretation activities of the
Qur’an by Central Asian scholars on chain-i sharif (Silsile-i Şerif).
Sufism scholars had researched the Qur’an at certain amount all through
their education and utilized it as the most important source for their activities.
Some of these scholars had also compiled works belongs to the science
of interpretation. One of them is Hace Muhammed Parsa (K.S.) – (Kuddise
Sirruhu - Let God bless his mystery). Hace Muhammed Parsa, wrote his
work named “The Interpretation of Hace Muhammed Parsa,” in 822 (1419)
in Bukhara. Up to date, five copy of the manuscript of the work has been
found. One of these manuscripts is protected in the reserve of The Republic
of Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences Abu Reyhan Biruni Institute of Eastern
Sageness (Şarkşinaslık) under the number 2180. Eight Sura of the Qur’an (نم
هزمهلا ةروس یلا ردقلا ةروس) has been interpreted in the mentioned manuscript.
One another Sufism scholar who writes works about interpretation is
Yakub Çerhî (k.s.). In the work named as “Tefsir-i Çerhî – The Interpretation
of Çerhî) the meanings of verses from 49 Sura of the Qur’an
سانلا ةروس) has been annotated through the signs. There are more than 25
copies of the work written in various years in the reserve of The Republic
of Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences Abu Reyhan Biruni Institute of Eastern
Sageness.
Beside this, in the interpretations written in ensuing years like “Tefsir-i
Hüseynî”, “Ahsen el-Kasas”, “Ruh el-Beyan”, one can find quotations taken
from Central Asian Sufism Scholars. For example, while the author of the work
named “Tefsir-i Hüseynî” referred to the interpretation of Hace Muhammed
Parsa for the 98th verse of the Nahl Sura, the interpretation of 90th verse of
Hûd Sura based on the ideas of Yakub Çerhî.
From information given above, we can understand that Sufism sheikhs
who lived in Central Asia had been active efficiently in the scholarship of
interpretation which is considered as sacred. The legacy that they have left
today presents the most important source in the scholarships of the Qur’an
Sageness, Sufism Sageness and Islam Sageness.
tabiidir. Bütün klasik şairler adeta seleflerinin edebi terbiyesinden geçerek
yazmaya başlarlar. Bu bakımdan Gibb”in ifadesiyle klasik şairlerimiz aynı
şarkıyı söyleyen koro elemanlarına benzerler. Ne var ki bu koroda bazı
sesler daha bir belirgin ve barizdir. Bu belirginlik konudan çok söyleyiş ustalığına
istinat eder. Çünkü bütün şairler aynı inanç ve zevk dünyasından
beslenmektedirler. Hulusi Efendi de şiirlerinde asırlarca dile getirilmiş dini
ve tasavvufi hakikatleri kullanmak bakımından eskiye tabi olmakla birlikte
büyük şairlerde görülen söyleyiş ustalığıyla benzerlerinden ayrılır.Keza o
zordur. Biz bu tebliğimizde onun şiirlerinde kendisinden öncekilerle müşterek
ifade ve zevk birliğine temas edecek v e onu seçkin kılan söyleyiş
özelliklerini göstermeye çalışacağız.
Inspirations of Hulusi Efendi’s Divan Literature
Our classical poetry is subject to denominations as Divan poetry, Sufi
poetry, and Folk poetry within itself and beside these, all of these literary
insights are common with materials of mutual Islamic / Sufi culture which
feeds them. On the other hand, some poets have placed products of the each
of the three literary tastes in their works. This is especially the case with Sufi
poets who adopts poem as a means of notification/communication. Hulusi
Efendi, whose name comes to mind firstly as one of the Sufi poets of our
century, has a taste that encompasses these rich and whole literary insights
which we encounter by his predecessors like Yunus Emre, Eşrefoğlu and
Niyazi Mısri. In his Divan that has a considerable volume; in one hand signs
of above mentioned Sufi poets are seen while on the other hand statements
that remind especially Fuzuli or Şeyh Galip are also observed. However, this
effect that is seen in almost every poet is very natural in terms of our literary
tradition. Almost all of the classical poets fairly began to write after passing
through the literary discipline of their predecessors. In this regard, as in the
words of Gibb, our classical poets are similar to the members of a chorus
singing the same song. However, some voices in this choir are more obvious
and apparent. This clarity is based on mastery of utterance more than the
subject. Because, all the poets live on the same world of pleasure and faith.
Hulusi Efendi, besides being subject to past in regards of using religious
and Sufi truths which are articulated for centuries in his poems, also differs
from his peers with his mastery of utterance that is seen with great poets.
Likewise, besides writing parallel with his predecessors, he has chosen the
path of depicting the literary taste and poem material that he had taken
from them after filtering them through his tastes. In this regard, it is rather
difficult to capture the effects of his poems through formal similarities. In this
paper, we will point out his unity of common expressions and tastes with his
predecessor in his poems and will try to indicate features of his utterance
which makes him distinguished.
The language of heart in the letters of Osman Hulusi Efendi
Osman Hulisi efendi has used the tradition of letter-writing as a means
of guidance and thus paid attention to establish a lively communication in
his letters by means of a friendly approach towards his readers. His letters
reflect the compassion of a father towards his child. In his letters which he
had sent to his children, to the close family members and to the relatives,
one easily notices the sensitive feelings of an elderly family member loaded
with the feeling of longing and bothering for the beloved. In his letters which
he had written to his disciples, he put forwards the principles of education
towards the sufi path. In his letters, the feelings of longing and phrases of
divine loving, bitter feelings caused by missing someone greatly, sharp and
moderate warnings, the efforts to keep one away from the evil, the desire
for a visit a holy place, the specifics of safekeeping the holy belongings, and
above all; the love for Allah, are all interconnected.
In my communique, I will try to elaborate on his letters on the basis of
his readers’ perceptions which he had used as a means of guidance, and
ultimately, will also try to analyze these letters from the point of view of sufi
path.
Aynı zamanda Leyla ile Mecnun hikayesiyle/mesnevileriyle Hulusi
Hazretleri’nin belirtilen beyitlerinin açıklamasını bulmaya gayret göstereceğiz.
The State of Mind of Mecnun in the Divan
(Classical Ottoman Poetry) of His Nib Hulusi
It is quite likely to come upon with certain references and attributions to
the story of Leyla and Mecnun ( Two hopeless lovers who have seperated in
the past but never managed to re-unite) in a number of couplets in Divan-ı
Hulusi-i Darendevi.
With this presentation however, we will compile those couples which
refer to the story of Leyla and Mecnun so that we can try to understand the
meaning of the deserts which ultimately caused the humble lover sacrifice
his mind for the sake of Holy Love which also caused him to lose his mind,
took him to the Sahara desert and made him fall in love with the Holy Cause.
Generally speaking, in “Divan” and/or “Tasavvuf (Islamic Mystisizm)”
literature, we are accustomed to interpret the concept of Mecnun as a onedimensional
lover due to his name as a well-known hero of an old saga.
Whereas; in one of his works called “arkimetinde” of His Nib Hulusi and also
in the different works of many other Divan poets, we can clearly follow-up
the moral progress of Mecnun towards the Love for God.
From this point of view, we will try to unveil the meaning of the couplets
from the works of His Nib Hulusi with reference to the story of Leyla and
Mecnun, and also, from his Masnavis (poem made of rhymed couplets).
Development Of Islam In Azerbaijan
(Places of Pilgrimage / Shrines / Hermitages / Religious
Centers)
One of the most important problems in the field of social thinking and
philosophy in Azerbaijan is the Islamic religion being not included enough
in these areas and keeping its obscurity. Invasions throughout history, the
pressures of feudal bullies, a life that consists of various social and economic
peoples are the biggest reason of the spread of Islam in the country of
Azerbaijan. The embodiment of very different beliefs on these lands, these
beliefs’ taking place in various sects, denominations, movements, and in
religious communities, has led to the incomprehensibility of Islam.
In my paper, on the land of Azerbaijan; sects and movements, religious
communities, religious hadims, some Sufi movements, sect configurations
and sufist thoughts shall be treated briefly.
We will also give comparisons about beliefs in Somuncu Baba Complex
üzerinde durduğu ahlaki değerleri ele almakla birlikte, Şeyh’in genel
Ethical values in Mr. Khulusi Effendi’s Friday sermons
Sheikh Othman Khulusi Effendi has devoted his life to the service of
humanity through highlighting the essence of the spirit of Islam and its noble
teachings, and highlighting the ability of Islam to grant the real life to human
beings in this world and enjoy the House of immortality in the afterlife.
He made the bulk of his effort in presenting an ethical model that serves
humanity in the twentieth century, tracking in this the ethics of Prophet
Muhammad peace be upon him. And this ethical modal was demonstrated
in his approach and his behavioral biography; where it was present in his
sermons and guidance and preachment, and in his personal behavior, which
had a major impact on the people’s love towards him and on rallying disciples
around him.
Sheikh Khulusi Effendi took upon himself - since the death of his father
in 1945 - the task of calling for God and guidance to be his successor as
Imam and Preacher in “Somonci Baba” mosque. And he practiced Oratory
as volunteer for eight years, and then he got a cadre of official Orator of the
mosque in 1953 and remained giving sermons in it as an Orator until his was
forwarded to retirement in 1987.
Khulusi Effendi has collected and classified the sermons which he delivered
in “Somonci Baba” Mosque, and he selected among it one hundred and fifty
sermons that had been printed in Istanbul in 2006 by the publishing house
“Al- Nasiha” (The Advice) which belongs to Othman Khulusi’s endowment
foundation.
The topics which were addressed by the sermons vary to include the topics
of faith and worship, and ethics, and special sermons for the Holy days and
the religious occasions, and sermons dealing with social issues, and models
from sermons of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and Imam Ali. It
was noted that ethical values have accounted for the bulk of the sermons
topics that contained in the book.
We will address in this research paper the most important ethical values
that was emphasized by Sheikh Khulusi Effendi in Friday sermons, with
focusing on the status and role of these values in the ethical and civilized
model which was presented by Sheikh Khulusi Effendi to humanity in general,
and to the people of his city in particular.
These most important values are:
1- The status of good ethics in Islam.
2- The value of good attitude.
3- The value of justice.
87
Somuncu Baba ve Hulûsi Efendi
4- The value of brotherhood.
5- The value of honesty.
6- The value of shyness.
7- The value of piety.
8- The value of cooperation and interdependence.
Kenan Evren’in kendisini tebrik etmesi
Mr. Othman Khulusi Effendi,
and his interest in science and arts
Sheikh Othman Khulusi Effendi (1914 - 1990) is considered as one of the
most prominent scholars of Sufis in Turkey during the twentieth century.
Where he was able to preserve the Sufi methodology of his predecessors and
enrich it with a modern spirit through which he could approach the society
and its civilization requirements and do the tasks of spreading the religion
and guidance.
Khulusi Effendi has developed and passed through the paths of the passers
before him, and he attained a great and high level in the Naqshbandi, and
he received the Islamic and mystic sciences and its education by the finest
scholars of his time, and especially his mentor Sheikh Ahramji Zadeh Ismail
Hakki (1880-1969).
It can be said that the most characterized thing of Sheikh Khulusi Effendi’s
methodology as a mystic scholar, is his interest in science and education, and
arts, and community issues, and work on solving it, and spreading the ethos
of cohesion for the renaissance of the community.
Sheikh Khulusi Effendi has done great efforts, and made major contributions
in the service of the city of “Daranda” in the areas of education, culture and
arts as well as wide social fields, so it was said: “That all the modern projects
in Daranda were done by the efforts of Sheikh Khulusi Effendi, or by his
direct support, or by his encouragement”, the Khulusi Effendi endowment
foundation continues to provide its services.
We may enumerate the most important elements of interest for Sheikh
Effendi Khulusi in science and arts in the following points:
- Sheikh Khulusi Effendi’s insatiable in learning, and multiplicity of sciences’
resources.
- His keenness to collecting rare books and manuscripts, and the formation
of two huge libraries.
- Practicing imamate and oratory and preaching and guidance in religion
and life affairs through his speeches and meetings in “Somonci Baba” mosque
since 1945 until his death in 1990.
Hace Ubeydullah Ahrar (1414–1490) hazretlerinin Orta Avrasya’daki dini,
Sufi Shaykh whose life was devoted to both his inner spiritual journey and
Some thoughts of KhawjaAhrar:
Summary of darvishi is that darvishdid not bear the burden on others
neither spiritually not materially.
Faqir is said to one whose all necessities have been fulfilled and
except Allah he doesn’t requireanything else becauseeverything in this
universe is the mirror and reflector of Allah.Faqir is dependent and lover
of everythingaccording to his seeking spirit and avidity. He achieves their
destination from all presents of this universe.
Knowledge of so-called scholars is like stagnant water and wisdom of
prudent and sagacious scholars is like water in flow which drops from clouds
of blessings on their hearts and his purity is above from all doubts.
The Natural Progress Within The Concept Of
Architectural Parameters
Islamic religious architecture have been developed through different
cultural and ethical environment and kept its unifying quality. Its character
which Titus Burckhardt defined as ‘’phenomenon of diversity in unity, or of
unity in diversity’’ (Burckhardt, 1976) can be seen in different architectural
types and their variations as a result of flexible common principles. These
principles can be reduced to two main canons: (1) creation and development
of inner harmony and (2) architectural adaptation to its existing natural,
artificial or social context. Usage of these principles would ultimately create
an interior space developed from the concept of Unity and exterior as a
continuation of a surrounding. A special approach or combination of these
principles can be found in two geographically separated examples, where
natural context as an exterior principle is used also as an interior principle
of Unity and harmony. Somuncubaba Mosque in Darende and Blagaj Tekke
in Blagaj are positioned in specific natural surroundings, and although
their architectural style and final composition may seem different, their
architectural whole and its elements are based on similar principles. As it
was written in chronogram about reconstruction of Blagaj Tekke ‘’because
that dome is a creation of the Divine Creator’’ (Mujezinović 1998), in both
examples natural context has the role of Remembrance in their spatial
strategy.
This paper will examine structural, spatial and architectural qualities
of these two case studies. Through these examples we would like to make
research on importance of a natural context on spatial strategies of Islamic
religious architecture.
