Brünig Safari.
Fine examples of craftsmanship.
They were discussed, sketched and drawn. Larch wood was
sculpted with a chainsaw and carving tools, then smoothed and
polished. And finally they were painted with waterproof paint.
The keen apprentices from the Brienz Woodcarving School have
succeeded in making our train conductor‘s idea a reality. The
wonderfully created wood figures – each one a unique work of
art in itself – are no less exciting than real wild animals. These
individual pieces of craftsmanship are now waiting to be discov-
ered on a safari over the Brünig Pass – and we hope you have a
whale of a time.
Brünig Safari Plus.
A wildly good idea.
The train lumbers up the cog railway towards the Brünig pass.
You‘ve time to look out of the window and admire the idyllic
nature. But what was that? A bear? And there – right on the
track – a fox! Unbelievable. Think you‘re seeing things? Well,
you‘re not: The idea to put animal figures along the Brünig line
between Giswil and Meiringen, which was the brainchild of the
Zentralbahn ticket inspector Jakob Enz, really impressed us.
So look carefully, as you might also see some animals that are
unfortunately now extinct in this region among the wooden
figures. And perhaps a real squirrel scurrying from a fir tree will
surprise you as well – just like on a real safari.
