video verification security system in early
May. The silent-alarm system uses cellular
technology and batteries rated to last up
to two years to send video to a control
center when a motion sensor is tripped.

removal of an entire kidney and adrenal
gland, known as a radical nephrectomy, in
Central Texas April 26 at Cedar Park
Regional Medical Center using a
procedure called single-incision
laparoscopic surgery. The procedure uses
the patient’s belly button to enter the body,
leaving no visible scar and reducing pain.

19 Founders Sonya Dixon and Terry
McKinney plan to move Sterling Classical
School from its current location in First
Baptist Church of Leander to Business

Students attend classes two to three days
per week, pursue home study and follow a
college preparatory curriculum. The school
is open to preschool through seventh
grade. A grade level will be added every

homes for high school exchange students
mostly from Germany and a few from
other nations for the 2010–11 school year.

State Farm Youth Advisory Board
recently awarded Concordia University
Texas an $85,000 grant for its commitment
to environmental responsibility. The
money will be used for Concordia and
Leander Independent School District
students to map Concordia’s 250-acre
preserve and to begin a recycling program
