QE2 cruise to launch Chorale on tour of Eq$md, Scotland

In the summer of 1992, as many of you
may remember, several U of I students,
faculty, and alumni took a two-week tour of
some of the most beautiful parts of France,
Austria, Switzerland, and Italy while repre-
senting the university. They enjoyed such
cities as Geneva, Chamonix, Florence,
Venice, Innsbruck, and Zurich. While per-
forming concerts of sacred and folk music
€or people of many different cuItures, they
discovered that one could truly share an
international bond with people of another
culture-by sharing their love of music.

On June 13, 1994, the U of I Festival
Chorale will depart on the famous QE2
Ocean liner for a two-week concert tour of
England and Scotland. The QE2 is one of
the largest, most Iuxurious Ocean liners
that sails the Atlantic Ocean, and the Cho-
rale will have the opportunity to rehearse,
sing, relax, and enjoy all of the amenities
aboard this beautiful vessel.
Following a fiveday voyage embarking
from New York, the Chorale will land in
Southampton, England, andbegin the tour
of England and Scotland. While on tour,

those who successfully completed a 1,300-
haur state-approved program, are certified
according to state and national standards,
and are employed as paramedics.
“Both programs have been designed
for health science professionals who desire
to advance their careers and enhance their
professionalism,”said Dr. Sharon Isaac, act-
ing dean of the School of Nursing. The
programs were developed as the result of a
demand in the Indianapolisarea, she noted.
The University of Indianapolis will be
the only institution in the state offering an
associate degree to radiographerswho were
trained through a hospital-based certifica-
tion program, Isaac said. Currently Bail
State University offers a similar program for
paramedics through an affiliation with
Methodist Hospital. St. Vincent Hospitals
and Health Centers offer the predegree
accredited programs for paramedics, and
Community Hospitals offer such prede-
gee programs for both radiographers and
paramedics.

churchesandcathedrals, includingthe 14th-
century New Battle Abbey outside of
Edinburgh. At some locations, the Chorale
will be hosted by English and Scottish choirs
and will combine with them to perform
English Cathedral music and works by
American composers-truly demonstrat-
ing the international bond of music.
