with. We even collaborated on a brochure for a draft excluder busi-
ness. Seeing my good friend in action inspired me further – one day
we should go into business together.
The point I’m trying to make is that it really hasn’t changed too
much. The reason we’re in business together is that we want to
work with people that we respect and admire and can learn from,
and also to make it as easy as possible for those people to do brilliant
things. So that’s what being in business together is really about :
creating a company we can be proud of, and that other people can be
proud of too, whether you’re an employee, a customer or a friend.
So from that moment twenty years ago the notion of Red Gate was
just about that really: Can we do something that makes a difference?
That really uses some of our talents to the full? That other people
couldn’t necessarily do? And build that company with a bunch of
people we really want to be with?
Ten years after that initial realisation of what we really wanted to do,
we did set up Red Gate.
And ten years after that, we’re here, which is a place we’re pretty
proud to have reached.
So what about ten years from now?
