CLTC is BBYO’s dynamic training experience for AZA and BBG Chapter leaders. At CLTC, teens grow personally, explore their Jewish
identity and learn specific skills to help them strengthen their Chapter at home. This is accomplished through a hands-on,
interactive and experiential approach. The participants are divided into mock AZA and BBG Chapters where teamwork and
community must be established to successfully accomplish the various tasks that are assigned during the session. CLTC does not end
the day the session is over. The friendships that are created at CLTC are monumental. Participants use these friendships during the
year to network on programming, elections, speeches, fundraising and other activities. In addition, CLTC participants receive
monthly emails with additional information on topics that were covered during the summer.
The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens enhances the leadership experience and inspires teens to develop good work habits, to
teach them how to work with their peers in a positive environment, to help them recognize their strengths, and to set standards for
themselves now and in their future years as adults.
Participants delve into:
Starting a New Chapter: Chapter standards, working with advisors, and fundraising
BBYO Vision: Cardinal Principles, Menorah Pledge, AZA & BBG History and songs
Election Procedures: Officer responsibilities, voting procedures, chairpeople and committees
Meeting Procedures: planning an agenda and running a successful meeting
Programming: AZA and BBG folds, brainstorming, step-by-step program planning, calendaring, program bank and program
evaluation; international program initiatives
Communication: verbal, non-verbal, listening, communicating with Chapter members, phone calls, social media and
networking
Membership: Where to find members, recruitment, making members feel welcome, new member training, steps for
retention
“How To” Sessions: parliamentary procedure, problem-solving, BBYO policies, public speaking, b-linked and youth
dashboard training, and best practices
All prescription medications as well as over the counter medications that are taken daily must be turned in upon arrival at
camp. For the safety of the participants, no medications are permitted in the sleeping rooms. Participants are allowed to
keep their inhalers with them. CLTC has a nurse on staff that dispenses medication and oversees general healthcare of
CLTC staff and participants.
In the event it becomes necessary to seek the service of an outside doctor or hospital, parents will be notified
immediately. However, parents are required to sign a medical release form so that emergency treatment can be rendered
when parents are unable to be reached. Cost of medical services by camp personnel are covered by registration fees.
Service provided outside of camp will be charged to the participant’s family medical plan. BBYO carries a $50 deductible
limited accident insurance policy for each participant (which is in addition to, not a substitute for the family medical
insurance.)
It is important that all medical information is included on the medical forms. Participants should continue their
medications at CLTC. This program is highly structured and in a classroom setting much of the time. In the
past, participants who were on medications for ADD during the school year experienced difficulties with the
structured CLTC program when they did not take their medications at CLTC.
This summer BBYO Summer Programs will continue to work with CampMeds, Inc, a pre-packaged medication
program to dispense and package your child’s medication for camp. Camp families are required to register with
CampMeds if your child takes medicine in pill form while at camp. All pills will be dispensed and individually
packaged in sealed packets labeled with your child’s name, medicine, dosage, date and time to be given. Our
system ensures that each camper receives their correct medicine at the right time of day. All medication will be
shipped to camp prior to your child’s arrival.
The CampMeds affiliated pharmacy will dispense prescription and non-prescription pills taken daily or as needed.
Medication not in pill form (liquids, inhalers, drops, etc), can be dispensed as well.
What you need to do:
1. Register on www.CampMeds.com (you may register prior to obtaining prescriptions)
3. Obtain original prescriptions written for 30 day increments. Unused meds will be sent home from camp
4. Write Camper ID # on top corner of prescriptions. *Do not send us medication, only the written RX
and when your child takes the medication (daily / PRN), and the correct med and dose is prescribed
6. Non-prescription meds/vitamins; physician's authorization or written directions by parent required
7. Include a copy of both sides of your insurance/prescription card
BBYO policy forbids possession, use, or consumption of any alcoholic beverages, controlled substances
or illegal drugs at any BBYO program. The staff at summer programs will inspect all personal property, if
deemed necessary.
Any infraction in possession or use of drugs/alcohol or controlled substances will result in expulsion
from the program. In such cases, transportation home will be at the participant’s own expense. No refunds
will be issued. Also, it must be clear that if there is involvement of law enforcement agencies, BBYO will not be in
a position to intervene or to protect in any way, those who violate this policy.
It is important for BBYO members to understand that use of drugs/alcohol may result in consequences in
their home region and local chapter.
6

Smoking is against BBYO policy. Use or possession of any tobacco products will not be tolerated.
All BBYO policies found in the member Code of Conduct must be upheld at all BBYO summer programs. Failure
to comply with any of these policies could result in dismissal from the program.
Any conduct unbefitting an Aleph or BBG will cause him/her to be discharged from CLTC without a refund
and is liable to suspension from BBYO. Inappropriate behavior, clothing, and language will not be
tolerated. This includes: fighting, gambling, fireworks, damage to property, writing/defacing camp
removal of items until the end of the CLTC session.
AZA’s and BBG’s are not allowed in each other’s sleeping room under any circumstances. This is cause for
dismissal from the program at your parent’s expense. In addition, teens that are found together in a compromising
situation will be subject to severe consequences which could include dismissal from the program.
Participant Expectations at CLTC
The BBYO summer program to which I am applying, unlike conventions and recreational programs, is designed to
be a highly intensive educational experience.
This program will include lectures, classes, workshops, discussions, exploration of Judaism, and other activities
aimed at development of leadership skills.
I will be expected to take written notes and to engage in serious discussion. I understand that I will be expected
to know and follow the program and schedule, and that I will be expected to participate in all aspects of the
program.
I understand that as an important part of the learning atmosphere and exploration of Judaism and Jewish life that
I will be expected to participate fully and respectively in services and other related programs, which may be
significantly different from those to which I am accustomed in my community or congregation at home.
I have a responsibility to respect other people, their thoughts and opinions, as well as show respect for the
facilities, materials and equipment. I understand that I will be held accountable and assessed fees if I have
participated in any damage or defacing of property, including writing on walls and furniture.
I am willing to accept the discipline of the group program. This includes working within the policies of BBYO, the
BBYO Code of Conduct, and complying with staff direction. I am willing to participate wholeheartedly and
cooperatively in fulfilling the objectives of the BBYO summer programs.
I understand all BBYO behavior policies and will uphold the BBYO Code of Conduct I understand clearly that
