<strong>Board</strong> Approves Memorandum Regarding Macon Prom<strong>is</strong>e Neighborhood Initiative<br />
After hearing from Macon Prom<strong>is</strong>e Neighborhood <strong>of</strong>ficials with an update on <strong>the</strong> initiative,<br />
<strong>Board</strong> members approved a Memorandum <strong>of</strong> Understanding dictating how <strong>the</strong> D<strong>is</strong>trict's share <strong>of</strong><br />
allocated funding for <strong>the</strong> initiative will be used. <strong>The</strong> memorandum guarantees that funding from<br />
<strong>the</strong> D<strong>is</strong>trict will be spent for educational purposes only.<br />
Th<strong>is</strong> week, construction crews broke ground on <strong>the</strong> new Prom<strong>is</strong>e Center at H<strong>is</strong>toric Ballard-<br />
Hudson. <strong>The</strong> 100,000-square-foot building, located at 1780 Anthony Road, will be renovated and<br />
house several programs to support education and families. <strong>The</strong> Central Georgia Partnership for<br />
Individual & Community Development <strong>is</strong> heading up <strong>the</strong> initiative.<br />
In 2011 Macon received a federal Prom<strong>is</strong>e Neighborhood planning grant to assess <strong>the</strong> needs <strong>of</strong><br />
families in <strong>the</strong> Tindall Heights and Unionville neighborhoods.
